Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
Nope. I took a file to the cross bars to expose the bare aluminum underneath and it gave me .3 OHM resistance to the chasis. It is one very well grounded and very large plane to run a CB from. Aluminum is a great conductor!

We need a PrinSu rack picture thread just so we can see them installed on everyone's rig and leave this thread for discussion only. Makes it easier than digging through pages, plus when different mounts come out it'll be nice to see what everyone is using their PrinSu for!

Sooooo this is kind of it's own topic but radios while being 360 start to lobe when placed away from the center of the ground plane. If you get the antenna as high and centered as possible you will have the greatest range available. Do a Google search on CB antenna locations and you will find some great pictures/write ups. Short answer is anywhere other than high and centered is losing you range.

That being said you could mount it anywhere on the rack as long as you have a good metal to metal contact to get a ground plane.

    Good luck!

Little bolt on light tabs would be a slick option...

I really thought about doing lights off the side like that but didn't see the reward vs having a light hanging off the side of the rack. I carry a big Ole spot light for that kind of stuff and am wiring some high powered rock lights up next week.

I've got a set of these waiting to go on the back of my Toprac. If they are bright enough, I'll probably get more to hang on the sides.

Any pics or suggestions for a mountain bike rack for a prinsu with hd bars? Don't have a prinsu yet but will be getting one. Don't want to order something now that won't work later. Thanks.

What kind of bolts are you using in the channels to secure it?

A 1/4" or 5/16" (depending on the model crossbar) stainless carriage bolt will slide on as well. Then stick a washer and a nylock nut on and call it good.

Where are you running your antenna wire into the cab at?

What is everyone doing about touching up the side rails and preventing the oxidation issues once you install and remove hardware? Looking at that last pic, it seems that there may even be that issue after tightening down the bolts for the first time.

Would you think maybe some rubber/nylon washers would resolve this problem?
