New to the forums, just wanted to throw this up and see what you guys thought truck has 100k bumper to bumper warranty, but if i do not have to drop my truck off at the dealer i would rather not. I just dont trust them with my truck. This is of my truck this morning. 30k miles, 91 gas, and mobil 1 synthetic 5w30. Is this what everyone is calling the taco tick? Its noticeably loud especially at idle. Normal? I dont get it sometimes its louder than other times and on cold startup in the mornings sometimes there is a slight different noise along with the tick that i will get video of tomorrow. The truck runs really good. Idle hangs just a bit coming to a stop with the clutch in but other than that i dont really see a reason to take it to the dealership unless someone else has some input. Thanks everyone.

My truck does it to. I think its just characteristic of these trucks. If yours is running good, and being maintained, i wouldnt worry about it.

Mine sounds exactly the same. '11 dclb. I really liked my truck when on the lot and I heard the tick. I went to look at another one and it sounded exactly the same. So...I went back and bought mine.

yep my 2011 DC sounds the same and annoys the hell out of me, but I did notice that running 5w30 Mobile 1 synthetic with BG products MOA additive did quiet it down some more but not completely.

lol. I appreciate the responses guys. I just don't wanna take it to the dealership if I don't have to it always seems to turn into a pain in the ass and with work and 1 year old my free time is very few and far between

No point taking it in, to the best of my knowledge the dealer wont be able to do much, if anything about it. My '09 sounds pretty much exactly the same and I don't even notice it anymore.

FYI someone, somewhere on these boards found a 50% solution where he installed a rubber washer on a particular bit of the manifold (drawing from memory) and it reduced the tick a decent bit.

My 2015 has that, I'll be bringing it up at my 5000 mile check. I'd call it valve lifter noise. No matter what it is, "normal" or not, it's best to have it documented as having been reported while under warranty.

I've actually noticed this too and thought I was crazy. I'm glad someone else has also noticed it so it must actually be quieter now that I went back to the Mobile 1 syn.
