    hey all,

was lookin through the "official "howmuch did you pay for your 2015 tacome thread"" and seeing a seeing a lot of folks post that they are getting their DCLB 4x4 TRD sports for a lot less then i am getting quoted for and which looks to be below invoice price.

    example here: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...h-did-you-pay-your-2015-tacoma-thread-14.html

ZRXdean at the bottom of the page says he got a 2015 DCLB 4x4, trd sport, entune, tow, at sticker price of 34030$, which is similar to my config below, for $31,611 before TTL.

a recent quote i received from local dealer in bay area: DCLB 4x4 TRD sports, entune, tow, and carpet mats. MSRP 34,975$. Offered at $33355 before TTL. This is the best offer i've found so far.

does it look like i'm getting quoted correctly and if so how are these people able to get 2.5k off sticker price?

    thanks for any clarification.

What "Bay Area" are you in? I'm also in the market, either DCSB or DCLB. Here with some TRD options etc etc they're around $31,500 to $32,000 before TTL....before any negotiating. If its "bay area" as in SF, it may be worth a trip to southern California. $69 plane ticket down and maybe 1-1.5 tanks of gas back could save you a couple grand.

Here 's what I did, Go online, like KBB.com or Newcars.com or Truecars .com and plug in what you want and go for the below invoice price, most importantly never go to the dealership not until you are satisfied for the price they gave you, a bunch of dealer will call you and want you to go to their dealership. Tell them NOPE! ask them to give you the lowest price for that vehicle and you will compare that price to what you have from other dealerships. That how I did and it works all the time to all the vehicle I own. I got my 2015 Taco LTD SB for 30,265.00 before Tax and license.

because most ppl on the internet are full of shit.
just get the number you're most comfortable with and go for it. id gladly pay a little extra to not have to get on airplane and pick up a new vehicle, that any local dealer could obtain. no need to reinvent the wheel...

+1 and another +1 for truecar

    This is great advice.
And if I may add, remember they are not the only show in town.

I'm in SoCal and I paid 32900 before TTL for my DCSB 4x4 TRD OffRoad. I got quotes from about 6 dealerships within 100 miles of my home. It wasn't the lowest quote I got, but I felt it was the best deal for how close the dealer was to my house. The quotes you're getting are not too far off from what I saw.

You have to take some of those posts in the "what I paid" thread with a lump of salt. People saying they paid 30k for a truck with an MSRP of 35k are almost certainly blowing smoke.

It may or may not be a good deal. Dealers make quotes but conveniently leave off things like advertising charges, prep charges, paper work charges and more and they are all different between dealers. The best way to find out if you are getting the best price is to ask for a full out the door price including TTL, and have it broken down in writing as to what each charge is. That way there is no surprises and you can compare the full final cost with other dealers. If they refuse or make some excuse as to how they cannot do that move on to another dealer. ;)

    thanks all.

    im in san jose, ca.

i have been looking in so call too and the so call dealer was the cheapest so far.

i'm thinking if i can find a dealer closer to me for just a little more i'd go for that just for the convience of not having to drive up from so cal to save a couple hundreds of dollars.

After reading many posts in that thread, I've come to the conclusion a lot of people are leaving out the fact they bought a PreRunner.

The only way you're getting a double cab TRD for $27k out the door is if it's 2WD.

Though in the case of what you're quoting I'd say area plays a major part in it. When I lived in Santa Rosa, every dealer within the Bay Area was not very willing to deal. You either have to head north toward Ukiah or south of San Jose before sanity starts to set back in.

When I bought my '13 SR5 DCSB 4X4, I found the best price through Consumer Reports pricing service. $14.95 - enter in the options that you want and they give you a pricing report along with a dealer that will honor it. This price was just shy of 2K less than True Car's pricing. I went to my closest dealer (they weren't on the list) and showed the report to them and told them match it or I'll drive (45 minutes) to the dealer that is listed and buy it there. Matched the price after hemming and hawing about how they were going to 'loose money' on it. Costco and credit unions have similar programs.

Buy used and put the money you saved into mods!!! I'd rather have a used truck and put $7k worth of mods into it than pay $33k new plus all the additional fees and have a stock truck. I've seen decent condition with under 50k miles for 24-28k, but I'm on the east coast.

Also why do people get the TRD Sport package with 4x4? It has a fake hood scoop and from what I can tell is designed for pavement.

Costco, in my experience, isn't any better than negotiating yourself. My brother bought his 15 Accord with TrueCar and it saved him about $1500, but again that isn't anything you couldn't do on your own.

every quote i get here in CA includes a 885$ delivery fee.

whats this fee about? especially if the dealer already has the truck on property.

is this something that can negotiated down or off?

Delivery fee is included in the price of the vehicle. Sticker even says so.

Here's the sticker on my 2015 Access Cab SR. I wound up paying $26,600 for the truck, plus sales tax and titling fees. Out the door price was $28,220. So they wound up knocking off about $800 from the truck. Though I ordered this truck so my negotiating ability was reduced compared to a truck they had on the lot.

If you read the quote I was responding to, you'd understand what my comment was about. Delivery fee is included in the price of the vehicle.

I got my TRD OR truck which had a sticker of 33,400 for 31,000 before TTL. I didn't have a trade in and payed 2/3 cash down, and that was on a custom order. Those what did you pay for your taco threads are misleading because most people trade in another vehicle when buying, and purchase prices can be manipulated all kinds of different ways then.

The way I got that price was to call 5 or 6 of the closest dealers on the phone tell them exactly what I wanted down to the accessories, then ask for a quote and have them call me back while I sat in my living room. The second best offer I got out of all of those dealers was only 500 off sticker!

The dealer that gave me the deal, was the largest in my tri-state area and recently implemented a new no hassle pricing phone sales program. Apparently they think people who call for specific quotes over the phone, have probably called every other dealer in the area also, so they just cut pretty close to their lowest price right off the bat.

I got almost 2.5k off of my truck and ordered exactly what I wanted, so not everyone is full of shit. A dealer 30 minutes away would only give me 500 off sticker and told me a custom order wasn't even possible.

Bigger dealers who do higher volume sales are always willing to go lower. If you can catch them at the right time when they need a few more sales near the end of the month to hit quota they may sell you something at almost break even pricing just to get their bonus.

O.P. - How many dealers did you check pricing with? As I said above, two dealers only 30 minutes apart from each other had nearly a 2k price difference for me. Actually it was 1.5k difference, and then I got my dealer to throw in 500 worth of Tacoma accessories for free.
