I use eastwood rust encapsolater. All you have to do is scrape off the loose rust, clean it, and spray. It might not be as good, but there's no way I'm using POR15. I'm too lazy for that shit!

The same shit everyone else has.
All this talk makes me want to crawl under my truck and start coating everything before it turns into that

Haha I mean I think my truck is in pretty damn good condition for being 12 years old and with all the damn salt here compared to some of the horror stories I have seen on the 1st gen forum. Pounded the hell out of the frame and not one hole in it. I just want the truck to last for a long time.

I may drive up to Pottstown this coming weekend and check out the Eastwood store. It seems that if you mess up one part of prep for POR-15 you can be SOL.

POR15 is expensive. $130 a gallon. $40 a quart. So, it would depend on how much you'd need. I'd think it's only be worth it if you were doing a complete body off restoration where you were doing the entire frame and every crack and crevice with complete cleaning/blasting or whatever. But that's me....

Let's not forget about inside of the frame. You can coat the outside all you want until you're blue in the face....but that's not going to prevent the inside from rusting thru to the outside.

I have used half a quart of por 15 on my sliders and bumper. You might be able to do a whole frame with just a quart.

I'm very torn on what to actually do. I mean my frame for the most part internally is rust free, but whos to say it won't start to? I mean I have heard of the Eastwood Inner Frame coating, but I'm a little skeptical

I had the same experience with the POR peeling off in some spots where I used it on my sliders. Granted my sliders also get scraped and what not but I think I have seen it peel from the top too. I think I am going to give the eastwood stuff a shot when I run out of POR.

I have yet to hear of anyone who's painted metal and not had rust appear/reappear. No matter the expense or care taken. So my philosophy is to paint it (relatively) cheap with rustoleum and touch it up annually.

Shit it even happens eventually with powder coating. If you live in the east where they salt at the slightest hint of snow you will have rust.
