Now that I've had my Tacoma with auto trany for almost 2 weeks, I find myself still swatting the floor board with my left foot and doing the neutral jiggle with the shifter lever.

    Old habits die hard.

Installed a bed extender and ordered a Bakflip cover.

From experience, living in a big city with heavy and slow morning / afternoon commute traffic makes them very much NOT fun.

    :)

My son drag races his mustang at the drag strip regularly. We put in a super-heavy-duty clutch because he uses some pretty stout slicks. We swapped vehicles for two days as he wanted to borrow my truck to move to a different apartment, I cursed that damn mustang all the way to work and back again. Leg was actually hurting by the time I would arrive either way.

    YMMV of course.

I haven't driven a stick in years... but with the shift knob on my auto Taco where it is I'm still tempted to move the thing while driving. LOL

Once a 3 pedal pusher, always a 3 pedal pusher.

My first car was a 98 Saturn 5 speed. Drove it 3 years. After that I drove an auto firebird for 3 years. The day I sold it, I tried to pop the clutch pedal in to start it and knew I needed another manual.

Now in the Taco, I haven't tried to pop the clutch...then again I've only had it two days. The transition is a little smoother for me now though since my work vehicle is an auto.

    Exactly!

Now, that being said. I still kick the floorboard when I'm starting the truck from time to time

I thought that ill i started driving a miata to work every day. I just got... bored... when I got back int he auto during inclement weather.

So I traded it in for a 6sp Taco :) Traffic isn't bad once you learn to keep it from stalling without touching the clutch while inching.

My Mustang has a 5 speed and my truck is an automatic. Each is fun for a different reason.

I went from a 5spd Standard Civic to a 4spd Auto Chevy which I drove for 9 years. After a few years I was itching to have a standard again, so I made sure I went for the 6spd Manual when I bought my Tacoma two years ago. No regrets.

    Some stuff...
I love my manual trans, but I don't hit traffic much in my commute. If I was I'd probably opt for the auto.

But it lacks "soul", and that direct connection to the ground.

I went through the same thing for a couple months as I've never owned a automatic. Love it now though and would only have a manual in a sports car.
