It sounds like there is a new process the dealers have for using the existing wire harness so that they dont have to wait for a new one... the harness was the hold up. I think they got an updated TSB or something. My dealer told me around 2 months for mine to get done, they have all the parts (since they dont need a harness) and are just going through all the tacos until they get to mine. Lets hope my Service Advisor isnt full of chit

That's one of my fears is that after sitting most of the winter the brakes and rotors will be pitted/rusted and need replacing. I somehow doubt that's part of the frame replacement procedure but suspect they use new brake lines at a minimum. I also saw someone post that new A arms and other suspension parts are used as part of the recall. I guess time will tell, but truth be told I'll likely part with the truck after this recall. I really wish Toyota did a buy back program. My neighbor had a first generation truck and got 1.5X the value in cash which would have been great.

Yes I had to have my brakes, rotors and calipers replaced. $900.00 ALso my power steering lines were rusted. $455.00. I'm sure the brakes were the result of the long sit in a parking lot.

They should really cover all those items. They are already paying $1K/month for a car rental so whats another grand for miscellaneous items.

I agree with you. I'm sure the six months sitting in a lot and buried under 6 feet of snow for three of the months had something to do with the brakes rusting up. Truck is like new now though.

Yeah, I brought this up to the service manager when I dropped it off. I even said any chance you or one of your guys can just drive it around the parking lot once a week or even take it to grab lunch every now and then. Of course, they have policies against the latter but see no reason why one of the lot guys couldn't move it around every now and then to save us $1K in parts/labor.

That aside, I hear from others as well that it drives like new once you get it back. Too bad you didn't have any before/after shots. :D I haven't looked but probably can find those on here...at least the after shots.

Anybody know of any good posts on any good back up cameras for our Tacomas. I'm not very good at navigating this site.

I've been waiting for mine since December 13, 2014. Called the dealership today and they don't show the frame has been slipped so I'm getting very frustrated. They however have given me rental cars since though but I want my truck by the first of May.

MaineHunter, you have 6 more weeks to catch up to me. Yes it was very frustrating. Only takes 3 to 4 days after dealer gets the parts. Hope you get it back soon.

I have one question to all owner who had their frame replaced. What is the reason you need the frame to be replaced? I read the whole thread and I can't find it, maybe I'm blind. :)

Frames in the northeast and cold snowy areas where salt is used on the roads are at risk of having their frames rusting and developing perforations. There has been a recall. The dealer inspects the frame, sends pictures to Toyota corp. Toyota then makes a decision to either coat the frame with a thick paint like sealer or replace the frame completely. If the frame has rusted so badly that there are perforations, they will decode to replace the frame. In my case the truck was quarantined as soon as the decision was made to replace the frame. It took 6 months for the parts to come in and only 4 days to do the replacement. Many parts attached to the frame are also replaced. Leaf springs, brake lines, lower front arms, and much more. Very expensive recall for Toyota. Look at the pictures I posted and you can see amount of work that goes into it. Hope this helps.

From reading this thread it seems that you are better off ordering all the parts youll need yourself minus the frame and then bring your truck with the parts and receipts and have them pay for everything.... my 2 cents, Im sure many will disagree, but waiting months on "Parts Kits" in which many of those parts can be found in a hardware store seems insane

My frame was in and installed about a month ago. Truck is still sitting there with the bed off because they are waiting on a "bag of bolts" To finish the job

after waiting almost two months (first wrong frame, then waiting for harness) when they called to say it would be ready they told me about my parking brake cable needing to be replaced which seems to me could have been done much easier when the truck was in pieces... had them do it but when i picked up the truck they said my rear brakes were at 30% ....
happy to get the frame and all the other parts but man the truck sat there a long time when they could have fixed this other stuff....
still need to get the brakes done.
