Hey Petrol, did you do your clutch by now I assume? Curious what you went with and did you figure out your question in the original post about the RMS? I have a 99 4Runner starting to slip in 4th gear on heavy acceleration like up a hill and have been searching on what clutch to get. I too was thinking of the Aisin from rock auto.
Did you happen to do this yourself? I'm wanting to try and do mine and curious how it went for you. My 4Runner is a 4cyl 4x4 I'm guessing they are the same as the Tacoma.

I installed the Aisin kit from rockauto in my truck a little over a year ago and i love it. I tow a 2200lb camper and the clutch is performing great. I was planning on purchasing the Marlin Crawler kit but it was out of stock with no eta at the time, but i am happy with the Aisin kit.

Hey thanks 68dave. Have you done this job before? And did you replace the rear main seal too?

Yea i've done a bunch of clutches and it's cheap insurance to replace the rear main seal while its apart. I have full use of a auto repair shop after hours with lifts so that makes jobs a lot easier.

Oh wow that would be nice. So what's the best way to get that pilot bearing out? In your opinion.

I adjusted the clutch and it's working fine for now. Going to try to get a few more miles out of it.

I use a pilot bearing removal tool.

I borrowed a blind hole puller from Autozone. It took longer to get the tool out and put it away than it did to pull the bearing.
