I think it's pretty dumb, honestly. It reminds me of something this guy would do. vvvvvvvvv But if it makes you happy, that's all that matters OP.

You must be young. Get a little older and the less you care about that stuff. You just shake your head and realize people do what they want and it doesn't affect you or your life at all.

Putting Hilux badges on a Tacoma is nothing. I've seen morons buy Autozone stick-on hood scoops and put them on their minivans BACKWARDS.

I say do what you want, it's your truck and your money. I'd guess that 90%+ Americans don't even know what a Hilux is. If someone makes fun of it, so what? Everybody's a douche nozzle to somebody anyway. who cares?

22RE are a beast of a engine. My ol' company had a 89 hilux aka Toyota PU in the US and it had 390k miles on it and it still start and drove like it was new. I beat on that truck hoping it would break down so they would get a new truck for us to drive. Nope, it took the beating and some more. I highly doubt my Tacoma would take that kind of beating.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
This truck had the little diesel in it, but I agree, 22's are tough to beat. I have a 22R in my '79 and it sat in the truck for 10 solid years without being ran until I got it. I primed it with gas and it started on the 3rd turnover and came to life. How many cars can you walk up to that have been sitting that long and just have them fire up like they only sat overnight? Not many!
