Thursday the 28th? Reason I ask is because I will more than likely have my dog with me and can't go to the National Parks. I may roll with you guys if indeed you guys are leaving the 28th. Never been and would be better with others.

Also you decide on a tire yet?

Yeah. I can relate. I know some other LC owners who have been and they said the most important thing to have in Moab is sliders. Jerry has been busy so I will either see if a friend of mine can fab me up a set and if not I may just buy a set from MetalTech4x4. Trying to convince the wife to leave the dog in my brothers care but we'll see.

That ACH thread does make valid points in running a 315. I was originally going to go 295/75/16 Hankook Dynapro MT but think I may swing a 2 inch lift in, so I may just bite the bullet and go 315/75/16 now as I plan to go that route eventually. At this point I'm still a maybe as mt wife still waiting for her job to approve her time off.

The AHC system really won't hold up well once you start adding weight like bumpers etc. My brother in law's LX470 would constantly drop back to the low setting. He pulled the AHC system out completely and swapped in OME suspension. It's a PITA to tear out the AHC, but its sooooo much better without it.

One other thing to keep in mind with 315's on a LX470/100 series is that you have to crank up the torsion bars so much to fit them that you have almost zero down travel and it ends up riding like crap. I know there are quite a few guys on MUD and elsewhere that claim to have no problems running 315's, but from some firsthand experience it is really not a great setup. I've seen cruisers on 315s lift an inside front tire going around corners on the road because there is no down travel.

315's look good though. :) And if you do a SAS then all issues are solved.

there is my answer... thankyou box!!!

the question is... would you SAS your j100 if you could? i want to build a expo overland rig. is it really worth it..or is it just the "cool". i do hear its easier to work on if it has a SAS. if not i would prob just do the OME system or icon with 33 inch tires.... as much as i want 35s i really dont think its worth it.. but i would go 35s on a SAS... i am actually going to use a 80 series axle.. hopefully find one with the elocker

If I had a 100 series or LX470 I would not even consider a SAS if I planned to use it as an overland rig. I love my 80 series and it works great, but as a pure overlander, I prefer my Tacoma with IFS. It just handles the typical overland type terrain so much better.

A SAS on a 100 series Cruiser is no simple task. Lots of potential headaches. The only reason to SAS it is if you want a rig for the rocks, and if that's what you want, you probably started with the wrong truck. :)

Just one opinion, and the way I would handle it if it were mine. By no means does that mean you shouldn't do it, if you want to do it. The 80 series is proof that a solid front axle truck can be a fantastic overlander.

All I'm saying is having spent a LOT of time and a LOT of miles in both types of cruisers I'd leave the 100 series/LX with the IFS. In fact I'd have gone with a 100 series for my new cruiser if I didn't already have all the parts to build an 80 series.
