We saw Audra McDonald last night. Girl can belt out the notes. I wouldn't want a steady diet of it but she's very personable and engaging on stage. We enjoyed the evening very much.

Not looking forward to that 2.8 mile hike to where we start though, and then fishing the 2.8 miles back to the truck, must be getting old! :(

    That would do it!
Felt like I got run over by a truck again!
We all managed to get our limits of trout, but that walk and going up and down the bank is starting to become very hard.
Came home and took a nap, when I got up and put weight on my feet it sounded like a bone broke in my right ankle. It cracked as loud as if you broke a heavy dry stick. Was limping around last night, but today everything feels much better!
Please don't tell me it's old age!!!:(

Morning oh ye holders of wisdom and knowledge.

It's not old age. Yes it is.:) I cut up a tree that had fallen in the neighbor's woods yesterday. Truck came in handy. My tired old bones less so. But we got it done.

Rain is pouring down in buckets right now, high winds too. Crazy April weather.

Speaking of knowledge and wisdom, has anyone here bought a washer/dryer recently? If so what kind, brand, style? I've been getting a lot of conflicting information on the topic. We made a purchase on Saturday and already I'm hearing conflicting stories. We still have time to change our minds, but only a little time.

Hi Dave, I haven't bought them recently, but my neighbor bought a front load washer and matching dryer. They are both LG's. They have had the repairman out often on the dryer. Problem with dryer is it takes twice as long to dry clothes then their old dryer(both old and new are natural gas). Repair guys and factory can't figure it out:eek:. I have also heard rumor to the effect that if you have the front load washer, and it is on a floor over a basement or crawl space it will eventually loosen the subfloor due to vibration?? Just rumor. But they still have the dryer issue..

    Morning all:
WHAT; and then Sue has to agree! :D
At least the young guy said he was hurting too, so that doesn't make me feel too bad!
There was a bad fire on the Blue Mountain just west of the turnpike tunnel that they were having trouble getting under control. It's raining here now and supposed to get heavy at times, that should be a big help in keeping it from getting totally out of control.

I've had good luck with a top loader Maytag heavy duty washer. Have read that speed gueen is supposed to be a pretty good washer. Can't help on the dryer, still use the old reliable washline!

No way will I buy a front load washing machine, too many bad stories out there of leakage, doors blowing open during an active cycle, and mold/mildew issues. I originally wanted one so that we could be a little bit more ecologically friendly but the high number of sad tales put me off. Salesman talked us out of LG etc. that have no agitator, says they don't wash well, loads spin lopsided, etc. But my sister has an LG top load and thinks it is just fine. The main advantage I see with that design is larger capacity, which would only be helpful to us empty nesters on rare occasions. The machine has other cool sounding features though.

Speed Queen is what we have on tap for delivery Wednesday. Old school - agitator, knobs and dials. Five year warranty, can't knock that. Everything made in the US too.

I dunno, maybe I should just stick with what we have coming. It just feels funny buying a washer that looks almost exactly like the 30 year old one it will replace, especially with all those space-agey things you see in the stores these days.

    Dave:
I would not buy a LG either. Still have a bitter taste in my mouth from the LG refrigerator I bought that only lasted 6 and a half years. Sears wanted $800 to fix the machine that will just fail again due to poor design.

    Evening people's

    Cheapest whirlpool you can buy.
Absolutely never get a front loader.
Not sure of electrics but I prefer dials.
    Never liked touch pads.
Been a long time since I got one so my preferences are probably out the door.
I buy parts online cause factory don't make the parts anymore.
Pouring here too. Was going to go to the car shop tonight but the rain took all my enthusiasm out of me.
