You picked the wrong days!! Yea I've wheeled with him a few times. Last time out I was yelling at him because he was bypassing stuff I was trying lol. I got stuck as hell, but I also don't have 40s and tons. We spent most of the day on parts runs and wrenching as one of the other dudes broke and marks steering was being dumb. I noticed you guys like to mess around in the quarry, I spend about 5mins there, get bored, run those rock gardens on the parimeter and go get lost in the woods.

Shoot me a message when you guys go and if I'm not doing anything I'm down.

We pick the days Mark can wheel... I can generally wheel 95% of those... We'd wheel more if he wasn't such a bitch and wore some pants sometimes :luvya:

Ever been to harlan without it raining..? IMPOSSIBLE lol. I've not seen Mark take a bypass ever since the SAS...

Sounds like you needed to step up just a bit from that puny reared you had. 12 of them would have told me something. Those 8" tears could hardly handle the stock case when pushed just a bit.

    All 6 times!!! :luvya:

Actually it rained for a few days before easter and the night we got there on this most recent trip and the trails dried out quick, I was expecting a slop fest.

It rained like crazy down at flatnasty when I went there, and I snapped my first and only CV..... I was idling down the trail in double low after crawling a crazy obsticle talking to someone and accidently blipped the gas when I got hung up on a rock and SNAP...

That's funny...mine has handled 40s and dual cases as well as the one now has handled some abuse with 37s...and I know a ton of guys hammering them as well...
I know guys who have destroyed 60s and 80s but all relative to abuse...
I think the new tacos weight is what kills them along with more power we see it on jeep wranglers (jk and jku) quite a bit....the weight of the new rigs is hard on stuff...
Add the dual cases and its hard on ring and pinions as well...

Artec ran 40s on a d30 in Arizona , jv And Moab on a 4dr jk...kept it open but trussed and gussetted..,the extra support reduced deflection or distortion of the housing which can lead to breakage as well....we have a guy who rock crawls the crud out of his 4dr jk on 37s but he also is open with 3:23 gears and has the 3.6 motor so the gearset and non locked diff is what's saving him but the larger tires he is climbing stuff we thought he would blow the thing up or not make....

Dougs not easy on it I am building him a D60 right now so yes got back up....he just wants to let go and see what happens..not ignorance but real world driving and wheeling...

Yeah, it's really all relative I guess. I had an 89 4runner that I really didn't do anything too. Just a small lift with springs and some 31" tires. Nothing else. No crawlers, gears, armor, nothing. Blew two rear ring and pinions in a matter of months just playing around in Big Bear. Probably didn't know how to wheel back then.

My friend Dan has this Taco on 36's with the stock 8" rear with e locker and a stock Dana44 with ARB. He's got duals with 4.7's in the front case and goes through some hairy places. Has never broke a thing. And he drives it daily back and forth to work.

Holy crap, i could not imagine 37s and 3.23 gears:eek:. The yj i had before my taco had 33's and 3.07s with the stock 4.0, 5spd and that made me want to slit my wrists, crawling was not even in the tool box, just point it and floor it and hope it doesn't die. I could not imagine having a bigger tire with gears in the low 3's.

Wyatt: Dan's truck is one of my favorites, i love that thing!

    I like his truck....looks good....

I ran 40s on that same setup as dan (except had a stock dual case) in a ex cab 99 and was all over JV, corral, oaks, bear etc and never had a issue aside of BALL JOINTS.....hate the wagoneer ball joint set up....too narrow to allow synergy to make a solid ball joint like the jk knuckles....

I see a lot of Toyota guys hopping and smoking stuff like a mini rock bouncer compared to the jeep crowd...but the jeep guys get all "wow" when a yotas walks past a nasty spot on 33s and hopping around.....seen it all too many times...

I've seen situations that shouldn't last never have an issue and ones that should be fail safe straight fail...

Your right its relative and sometimes Murphy imposes his will...

BTW like your build allot......looks amazing.....one of my favorite trucks.....

She'll still burn these 40's. I tested that after i welded the rear end, nothing like a stress test right after tossing oil back in it.

I agree but at the time I was thinking I needed tons I also knew id need a bigger motor so if I was going to rebuild a truck I might as well just scrap the one i had and start over. I parted my 94 out and bought my taco then went to building.

    So easy to re-arch springs.

so these 63" springs where 5" lift 5 leaf pack when I got them and now they are a 8" lift 3 leaf pack.

I had my bent up skyjackers re arched locally. Hell of a lot cheaper than buying new. From the sounds of it, you did yours yourself.

that's actually not bad. but we both know moral of the story is track bar. I haven't built mine but all my bushings came in the mail last week. I still have shifters to mount and some wiring to do then ill start building that thing.

Exactly. My only hold up is my plasma table being down for the count. The damn hard drive on the computer crashed. I'm quickly running out of time to get it done before Jambo on the 30th. I have all of the bushings, heims, 1.5" DOM, etc. just waiting to be put together.
