AR-15 BS Thread

Trying to plan out my next upper build, It'll be a truck gun/close range gun so it'll have either a 14.5" (with P&W FH) or 16" barrel, I want the standard drop in handguard, but I don't want the A2 front sight post, all I need is this to go on the chamber side of the gas block and I can use the drop in HG with a low profile GB, correct?

I bought the same one for my pistol build. Make sure the gas key is tight and staked. I was having feeding issues and changed out buffers and springs, removed and replaced the gas block...nothing worked. Finally checked the gas key and it was loose. I tightened it down and made sure it was staked and was GTG.

Other than that, it's a quality piece. Very easy to clean.

 

Will do as soon as it arrives.

Three people saying easy to clean in a day, makes me feel good about the choice.

 

Just cut the top part off, otherwise you'd have 2 holes drilled through the bottom of your barrel with no pins in them.

 

Anyone built one of the form 1 suppressors?

 

He might be wanting a rail there too but that is a good idea to remove the sight portion.

 

In my limited experiences with railed blocks, I never liked how they weren't the same height as the upper 1913 rail. I'm sure there are better ones out there than what I dealt with though.

Could just buy a complete upper built to your specs and not cut anything! Can't have too many gun parts.

 

Buy the brownells front sight removal tool and watch the video. Get a bcm or centurion arms lopro gas block

I've researched it and even designed a baffle system in autoCAD, but I haven't had the skills or tools to build one.
I recently learned to TiG weld though so it may be possible for me in the future.

 

If I ever get ahold of a large that I can use its on lol, I can't do it at school....

 

Stops a .50 cal... You may not live from internal bruising/ bleeding.

 

I cut my a2 sight. IMO the A2 sight is THE BEST gas block, its pinned in. no set screws to walk out, It doesnt cant during install as well... Cut, shave, blue.

 

I'd like to see a video of this because I haven't seen any rifle plate stop more than .30 cal that is available to either civilian or MIL/LE. Usually level IV ICW IIIA soft armor.
