how many leaf springs do you have?
I read somewhere (probably on this site) that 80% of all Tacomas are sold with "comfort springs" because in their estimation 80 percent of the owners are not real truck buyers but car buyers that want to occasionally haul a load....
I have owned 2 Tacomas both had comfort springs (3 leaves) both sagged I owned a 2001 dodge 2500 diesel between the 2 of them the dodge was a true truck (work horse) but with the cost of diesel over $4 I had to let it go. The Tacomas have been without a doubt the best trucks I have ever owned in my 40 years of driving cars and trucks its that neither seem to handle the advertised 1/2 ton load without looking like they are overloaded. I never heard of a TSB until I visited this site. So I took my 2008 to the dealer for the "fix" but was told no fix has been offered for 2008 only 2005 through 2007, grr, so I will at my expense and disdain for false advertising have to put an extra leaf, stronger shocks, and possibly air bags between the leaf springs like I did with my 96 taco The only other Japanese truck I have owned was a Nissan 4X4 it was without a doubt the worst riding kidney busting truck i have ever owned. I never put a load in it because I wasn't in the same business as I am today. I sold it after one 4 hour trip to the snow and will probably never buy another Nissan again . |

Windshield Noise Fix
I had the windshield noise bad at 80+mph or when driving into the wind. The problem is the top windshield seal. It act like a reed in the wind, resinates and makes the noise. My Yota dealership put some clear selant on the top part of the seal that touches the paint of the roof and the problem was fixed. Been good to go for years now. If this has been said already I apologize for not catching it.

Under warranty to be covered???
Do you have to be under the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty to get these things fixed?
I have a 2005 Tacoma with 61,000 miles on on and i have a few of these problems i would love to get fixed.

All they did to fix the windshield is put a bead of sealant on the weatherstrip above the windshield to get rid of the whistling

I have a 2006 Taco with over 40,000 miles and my bed bottoms out when I load up to go camping. Is it too late to get the TSB performed?
Thanks, Erik |

rear leaf TSB (technical service bulletin)
A tsb has been issued on this year most Toyota dealers will fix it by adding a leaf and better shocks but you have to ask them to do the rear suspension tsb

it actually rides alot better, and its actually not harsh at all with the new springs. the truck feels alot more solid in the rear now with the tsb springs.

I've had the TSB springs for about 6 months and they've settled to have a nice small amount of rake....
Went to put mulch in the tacoma yesterday. I wasn't sure how the truck would handle it (spring wise). The scoop was a pretty good heaping scoop and filled the bed up 3/4 I'd say..... I was relieved to discover the rear only dropped probably about 2" from it's original position. I forgot to take picts, it was 95 degrees outside. Had plenty of room inbetween the wheel wells and the nose was just slightly high. The guy at the yard said he thinks a scoop of mulch weighs about 700lbs. I honestly have no idea if he's right or way off...?? I'm very happy and VERY glad I got the TSB Springs. I don't haul much in it, but when I do....I wanna be happy and not worry about it.

Anyone have any information on when the 08's will be included in the Suspension TSB (since the 09's are out now)?

I was wondering the same thing. Also, I just had my ToyTec lift installed, so I have the rear AAL in there. Will that void my chances of getting the rear suspension TSB done? Would it even be needed? My truck seems fine, but I haven't loaded it down with anything either.
