Maybe next time at your dealer take a look at a '10 with intermittent wipers and see how they work. If they work backwards like the '09 OEM install I would order the '08 stalk. Also maybe check with your dealer parts dude and see if he can dig up the part # for the '10 OEM install switch. It appears some dealers are hesitant to look up parts if you didn't get them OEM. I had the Rostra cruise switch installed after market and my dealer didn't mind looking up the part # for the $4 plastic cover that went around the switch.

When I bought my truck my dealer told me it would cost $3800.00 plus they would need my truck for 7+ days to install DRL's. They informed me that the part #'s for the fuse panel are different and that they would have to order the new panel and wiring harness and re-wire the entire truck.
Thanks to a write I purchased an $80 relay and jumper harness and installed it myself in 30 minutes.

To be fair, things like adding the wiper switches, cruise and DRL is something the dealers probably rarely come accross. They would only make repairs to those items on vehicles that already have them installed.
I'm sure in my case they just look up the 2 parts #'s and see they are different, what's different they don't know, so they assume the entire panel had to be changed.

I put the 09 parts number in mine. I don't understand why everybody says it works backwards. Maybe it works opposite than the ones they are used to. It makes sense to me. Rotate it up and the speed goes up. Down and the speed goes down

I installed switch #84652-04141 in my '09 base a while back. Nothing is "backwards" at all. It functions just like the variable intermitten wipers on my wife's '04 Sienna do.

Same one I used in my '09. There is an earlier post about someone ordering the '09 part which is # 84652-02610 and the intermittant function is backwards from the #84652-04141.

Using the #84652-04141 in the '09 as you move the knob down the speed goes up so is is the opposite of yours. I really don't think it makes a difference since you leave the interval setting in a favorite setting and activate it by pulling the lever down to the first click. I leave my setting on the longest interval and change as needed.

Perhaps the '09 part with the shortest interval at the top is backwards from the graphics on the handle. Here is picture of my '09 with the #84652-04141 handle. The interval marker is set at the top and is set at the longest interval.

Just installed part# 84652-04141 in my tacoma and it works fine and worth every cent! Got mine from 1st toyota parts to the door for $160. Had to pay $20 dollar custom fee at the border where i'm from Canada. A far cry from toyota i priced it there and it was a wopping $245 plus tax!! Hope this helps somebody.

I just completed this on my 2010 and it works perfectly, took about 10 minutes and the controls are not backwards. I used 84652-04141 from 1stToyotaParts.
Thanks for the info on doing this!!

The dealer will always tell you it won't work and they won't do it. I have done the wipers, DRL and cruise on my '09 and they have worked well for over a year.

I have an 11 Dbl cab with the same 2 speed wiper switch, I would imagine I can order an intermitten from the dealer as I am going to find out.

For my 2011, I ordered the '09-'11 part number from 1sttoyotaparts shipped to Ontario for $125 and it works great. Thanks to all the info on this board! They must have fixed the markings because mine acts as I would expect and is the same as the pic a few posts back for the older part number.
    Now for cruise...

Installed. Happy with the INtermittent BUT, was expecting the High speed wiping to be faster than the high speed on the plain ole two speed unit. Anybody notice faster high speed, and if so what was your part number?
