So my DRL has finally burnt all the way the lens so that it broke in half (60,000 miles). Is there anywhere that sells them other than the dealership? If anyone was wondering, it was a stock bulb. Thanks!

Here's the photos of the one that hasn't melted all the way through. My DRL came with the truck and I didn't do any mods to it. I noticed it melting at about 20,000 miles and it just kept going. Yes, it's a stock bulb.

Haven't taken it to the dealer since my warranty is expired and I'm not expecting too much from them. Is there another place I can buy a lens besides the dealership?

No matter what, take it too the dealership. This could be an issue for many Tacoma owners. Maybe they will do something for you.

I remember when the first Lexus models hit the states they had issues with the brake light burning the plastic from sitting in traffic and swiftly rectified the problem with out being forced to recall and did it voluntarily.
Contact Toyota first and save your money. This is Safety related so time limits should not apply.

DRL mod with switch, rear spring TSB, trans TSB, tailgate mod, snug-top shell.
Looks like more research into the LED bulbs.

Does anyone know if the flasher is part of the DRL relay or a separate part?

I know in the mod ( http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/technical-chat/1475-05-drl-daytime-running-lights-install-oem.html ) the stock flasher gets replaced. I'm sitting here looking at the old one.

You can get that same bulb in LED but I don't know if you can just replace the bulbs and make them work or if they will blink without changing the flasher, again. There probably is no LED flasher for that.
You can also add a resistor in the circuit but a resistor gets real hot too. It wouldn't be mounted next to a plastic lens though.

I would at least give the dealer a chance to do the right thing and replace the assembly.

It should work without changing the flasher change but it will blink faster like when a bulb is burnt out due to reduced resistance of the LEDs. At least that's what it did on my older truck when going with LEDs

http://www.car-stuff.com/carparts/toyotatacoma20052008replacementty0508chl1.html they will fit 05-08 probably 09 too. Cheaper than paying $215 per assembly for OEM and they are blacked out already!

I haven't put them on yet but I will soon...

I can't believe you knew what was happening and continued to drive around like that.

An electrical fire would be a lot more expensive to fix.
