you can get the FOBs on ebay for 30 bucks..so if we only needed to buy the FOBs we would be set.

Those FOB's without the actual system 'brain' will not work in the trucks that do not have the factory keyless entry. Those FOBs will replace FOBs on the trucks with keyless entry already installed, they just have to be programmed. The cheapest and easiest way is to buy an entire keyless entry kit and have it installed.

Ok, so after much research this is my best answer: you would need a new body ecu(brain for the keyless) $1100, door control reciever $375, keyless entry remotes $150. Even if your willing to spend this kinda dough for the factory keyless entry you still might need a new harness to activate this feature, short of tearing down 2 Tacoma to see if their wire harness numbers are the same I cannot verify that it's plug and play

My dealer, Mike Calvert in Houston, TX will install factory keyless entry for $225. At that price, I'm guessing it is a plug & play application with no wireing involved. They wanted $700 to add cruise & I did it myself in 15 minutes for around $100! If anyone knows if the keyless module is available & how to install it, please post!

this is very interesting! I know how to do the cruise and wipers... if its 225 at your dealer (and there isnt some error on his part)

I wanna find out how to do it on my own!

So do I! I don't think it's a misquote on the price, my son bought a 09 Double Cab just like mine at another dealer & they told him $250 for the keyless, so it's in that price range.

    great!

because I really want the base model, since i found out you get chrome on the TRD Off Road, and you get no locker and a fake hood scoop on the TRD Sport...

and EVERYTHING else has that hideous silver interior...

base + what I actually want, is the right truck for me!

Has anyone figured out how to do it yet?
I have an 09 prerunner, 4 door, and have installed fog lites, and int. wipers myself. I do have auto door locks but not keyless. Sure would like to add this mod.
Please post any findings or email me.
    thanks very much

I wound up going to the dealer to get mine. It was around $250 for the keyless entry & alarm. They did not install a Toyota system though, it was aftermarket, but it is a good one with all the bells & whistles! I installed cruise control myself, that was very easy & only cost about $100 in parts & took 20 minutes! All you have to do is buy the stem & a wire, & it plugs right in.

i have never seen a base model swb. looks cool. maybe a color matched grill and front bumper, but leave the black fender flares and it would look awesome!

If the dealer charged $250, I imagine i could get a better deal on the same system elsewhere... since the labor costs alone at a dealership seems to be ridiculous!

access cabs have power locks

if anything i'd just go with an aftermarket alarm if your truck dosen't come with keyless entry

$250 is a pretty fair price for a decent aftermarket alarm...
