You can run Windows and OSX simultaneously on Mac machines now anyway; so, if you have the money I recommend Mac.

Yeah you can use the integrated OSX software, but you have to restart to boot into windows, or you can pay for a program called Parallels where you don't.

I just use vista for gaming and ArcGIS stuff. The MacBook pro is an awesome gaming machine, though it runs really hot.

Im sorry to all you mac users, but when i think of mac all i think of is some yuppi douche in starbucks writing some "novel". For the price and use i am all for PC. Not much of the business world really uses macs, And for that reason no one wastes there time on making viruses for them. The percentage of pc users when compared to mac is crazy. I think mac users only make up 5 to 6 percent of market shares. I also think steve jobs is a dumb ass, he didnt put in the little cooling holes on any of his macs because he thought they were ugly. And the only thing that saved mac from going under was the ipod.

    Here's mine...

All the high tech shiz! I had the optional cassette tape drive and hooked it up to the only TV we had - a nine inch my roomie had. Prior to that I was using punch cards for Fortran. Some hottie in my class wanted to know if I could teach her basic. I didn't know basic but I ran out and bought a Commodore 64 (I think it cost me $200). By the following week I was teaching her how to program and her parents were paying me $16 and hour - Paid for the computer before the end of the following week. Now if I could just go to computer rehab! ;) Just spent 5 hours installing Win 7 and all my software. Not bad - seems to run faster. Would have gone a lot quicker but I failed by using Ghost (norton) and what a pos!!! If it wasn't for that shit not working and having to uninstall it a couple of times I would have been done in half the time - I ended up using some shareware to clone my last drive.

i'm a mac but i have the same mental image you do when i think of mac users. i hate being one but its better than having a computer i hate. cooling is not an issue on the macbooks if they remain open. when you close them they go to sleep automatically, but you can force them to keep running. the vents get blocked off when the lid is down so they can overhead if you run them closed, otherwise heating is not a problem
