My dog jenny died today. she was a german shepherd and a really good dog. best guard dog. and if you met her she loved you up. didnt get along with other dogs, just to protect the family. she was so strong. so pretty. i want her back sooo bad. im glad she didnt suffer. She was 9 and she had some hip problems as most german shepherds do. the hip dysplasia. We did everything we could to prevent it. glucosamine pills daily. it hardly slowed her down. she was never in any pain. This morning My stepdad came home. she came out into the garage to greet him as normal. when coming inside she started trotting towards the door, and she fell. in her tracks. she had a heart attack.she was gone. with no warning. i dont know what to do. she was the best dog i could have hoped for. retired Border Patrol K9. drug enforcement dog. my mom was her handler. we retired her so we could keep her.
    UPDATE

i got a new dog named MO. go to page 3 for the story. heres a pic

    For Jenny:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

You have my deepest sympathies. I am a die hard german shepherd owner. I am sure she is guarding the gates of heaven. Take care.

Man, I feel for you, we had a german shepherd for 12 years and have another one that is 8 years. They are the best dogs IMHO. Our dogs are the exact same way yours was. It sucks to lose your dog especially one you have known almost your whole life, I was the same way, I think i was 13 or 14 when we lost ours. They are the most protective and loyal dogs. The only thing I can really say to cheer you up is if you get another one, remember how cute the shepherds are when they are puppies. Good luck buddy, keep your head up.

Dude, I am sorry. I don't care what anyone says a dog is like family and it is among the hardest emotions deal with when it happens. No dog can be replaced, but new friends can be made. Again, Sorry to hear it man.

yeah. we will prolly get another one eventually. but it just seems like i want my jenny back. she would have loved to have a buddy. she was such a good dog that nothing can replace her. but im happy that she lived a great life doing the things she loved work play and love. she always loveed meeting people. p til about age 5 she would always be so excited to work. and play. everyday i would throw the ball for her for at least an hour. at the time it seemed like a chore. but im so glad. she probably played more than any other dog out there.

Losing a great dog like that is very difficult, and they can never be truly replaced. Jenny's life was cut unfortunately short, but take comfort knowing that she was lucky to have a caring and considerate owner.
