Was at the dealership for like 3 hours waiting on tranny TSB to be done, browsed the lot and saw this. The MPG numbers are way lower than mine was, identical setup. I think mine said, 18 city 21 hwy.

That is odd, I think mine was 18/21 or something like that too. Is that truck supercharged? It does not look like it from the price...

    That truck is a manual.

The numbers have gone down...I was on a lot and noticed it as well.

One thing I also noticed was the FJ mileage numbers went up. Those used to be 1 mpg lower than mine when I bought my truck, now they are 1 mpg higher.

I read somewhere that the EPA standardized the method of calculating the MPG figures across all manufacturers. I also heard the previous method Toyota used to calculate those figures were not accurate (inflated on most models).

Starting in 2008 the EPA redid the way they calculate mpg in order to be more accurate. MPG estimates were creeping toward being about 20% to high, so they added additional tests (one with A/C on, increased top speed) in order to make it more accurate.

Here's a link to where you can compare the old estimates vs the new:

    Interesting find.

I wouldn't worry about it though. You should get better gas mileage with the RPM's not shooting up to 3k when you roll a stop or make a slow turn lol

My 2010 dbl cab long bed 4x4 V6 is 16/20. I got 18 mpg on my last tank. I wish Toyota would put a bigger fuel tank in the Tacoma.

Bigger gas tank for sure, at least 25 gallons would be nice.

That would make the truck very heavy don't you think? I usually get around 350 miles to a tank with my kind of driving. That's about the same as my IS300 that I had. I don't think that's bad at all.

Really? An extra 65 +/- pounds is fairly negligable if you ask me. Personally, I would love to see a larger gas tank in these trucks. Going on a road trip sucks when your filling up every 320 miles or so.

Mine gets what my sticker said but only the highway, in the city i get horable mpg but thats mostly my fault.

Didn't toyota put a new engine in the 2010 fj that is more powerful and better gas mileage.
