Mine is stock for Reliability and warranty. I plan to put 200,000 Miles on mine and I just dont see aftermarket parts holding up to that.

I do however do small mods... Wheels, Tires, Tonneu, Stereo(because stock sucks)

I bought my taco in august 07 bran spanking new and thought i would always leave it stock. well 4 days after i bought it i took it offroading and after that i was like ok maybe some basic suspension but after i did that i wanted more and more and more, my suggestion is if u want to leave it stock dont buy even a little thing cause it will just do a snowball effect and u will never stop. next month im doing a bed cage and i know im not going to stop its a addiction.

But honestly why not mod your truck you bought the best truck in the world, why not just make it even better.

Mine is stock..... (in terms of suspension & things).

I have mods on my truck but they're all typical truck items like tonneau cover, seat covers, floor mats, bed mat, and some other stuff. Nothing big and more convenience things.

    C'mon

    Christmas is coming.

You know you want to mod your truck!! You're here and everyone here wants to (eventually).

If you could do one thing...what would it be?

I'm an old fuck & mine is stock except for 32" BFG's, the only change I'll make is another leaf in the rear & some Bilstein 5100's to get 2.5" lift in front so my tires don't kiss the inner wells, not right away but soon.....

I have several mods but consider them all to be minor. I am just very careful when cossing what mods to do because I also plan on putting 200K miles on my truck.

Mine looks stock till i turn it on then you can tell I have a aftermarket exhaust. These trucks do look nice stock, and once I pay it off I'll start adding some serious mods starting w/the supension then the tires and wheels.

"Stock" is relative. Is it stock if you adda seat cover... or go farther.
Mine is stock...stock suspension , rims, body, engine etc.
Well on the other hand I added stock cruise control and stock int wipers, still stock though.
Is it stock with weathertech mats, Afe filter, a bed mat ? I mean its not lifted so its stock right?

It Looks stock from outside, I do like a stock look.

    I tried I really did!
I stated in front of the wife and parents in laws that I was just going to keep it stock.
Yes I am an old feller too.

They laughed and even though I was serious at the time I could not help myself.

Come to think of it I have never left a vehicle stock.
Some less than others but all have been modded at least a little.
It is a life long problem but I can control it a little.

    bone stock
    Yup.

Ours will more or less remain stock. However, I have made the following mods:

    - TOY-AUX to connect my MP3 player
    - mounted bicycle fork mounts yesterday.
    - tied up a harness to hold a Brute box of sand at the rear of the bed.
    - swapped stock wheels (and tires?) for stock steelies with snows.
    - D-rings ordered for the front corners of the bed.
    - maybe get a drawbar and ball for the receiver
    - maybe adapt our Thule rack for the Toyota.

I don't consider this highly modded - more like personalized.

Your too mellow, have another cup of java!! LOL.

As Wilson and others have stated the truck is just fine as it comes stock but for me a few creature comforts always get added for personal comfort, convenience, or eventual savings in the long run.

I've added several mods that weren't necessary according to some.

The tonneau for some extra secure storage. AFE air filter for $$ saved over the ten years I'll own the truck. Floor mats, yes they are still in the truck, to protect the carpet. The Fomoto valve for the, no hot oil down the arm, 10 min. change. Locks on the spare and tailgate, they sometimes disappear. Nerf bars for inconsiderate door bangers and short wife. Speaker upgrade as my tunes are important to me. I just trimmed the front mud flaps because I thought I tore one off deer hunting last month.
I had the TSB for the rear springs done which then required the 5100's, at least in the front, for a poor man's version of a level look. My previous three Tacoma sized trucks all had 4 leafs in the back. If Toyota had done the springs right, my opinion, with the 2nd Gen. the proper height front strut would have been on the truck and this mod wouldn't have been needed. Not really mods at all just making the truck fit your uses and personality.

I can't imagine the cost of the vehicle if you could custom order everything on a Tacoma exactly to order where you never wanted to change anything once you got it home. What fun is that???

I've kept mine pretty much stock for the two years I've owned it now except for the soft topper and the 265/75/16 Terra Grapplers. I'm torn. Lot's of life priorities took place of modding (my first house, marriage, home remodeling, etc), but it's very tough for me not to modify it. Then again, I'm still not completely done with the idea of getting a fullsize this summer either, so I'm not jumping the gun on modifying quite yet. I, for one, think they're pretty good stock, but my god they're too low to the ground.
