Do you? I noticed that after a while of working on cars/trucks/suvs, I have started to become an a$$hole about where and when people use my tools. How long my family can borrow them for and where they have to put them back. I have seen my friends and it's a nasty mess compared to his fathers. Another one of my friends is semi neat about things, he does all the work and such but cleans up a little and then cleans up the rest the next day.

Do you keep your spot clean? Or do you not really care where things are or where they are placed after usage? I am trying to see if I am honestly the only person that gets all worked up about it all.

I don't mind making a mess, but I always pice up my stuff when I am finished with whatever I am workning on. I'd say that I keep my stuff pretty neat. I will loan a tool to anyone once, but the second time for very few people.

I have to keep my garage neat- It's too small for me to make a real mess. I don't have tape outlines and foam cutouts like the helo mechs do...but everything has a place and if that's where I put it...That's where it should be.

so I'm not really a jerk for being like that right? I thought about having the tape outlines so that when people do put a tool back they know where to put it instead of asking me all the time, "where did this go?" "you that thing with the metal, where is that supposed to be?" It bugs because they just got the damn thing from the tool box and it's not rocket science.

My garage is a shithole at the moment. I am somewhat of a pack-rat on a good day, and on bad days I use my or my wife's bay for various projects. I'm just finishing a remodeling job on my house, and I've been parked outside for three months because my bay is full of siding, wood, insulation and equipment. Not only can't I park my truck out of the weather, I can't get at my snow plow to clean the driveway without spending a half day moving crap around. However, in another week, the majority of crap will be installed on the house and the bay will be accessible. Still cluttered, but usable.

My shop also, and routinely, looks like a mess and gets thoroughly cleaned or organized only a couple times a year ... maybe. In between cleanings I pretty much know where everything is, and as long as I can get my work done I'm not overly concerned with appearances.

nice, I wish I had some foam for my tools. Makes things easier to place in the tool box, you literally have to be retarded not to know where things fit. In my garage (will post pictures tomorrow), there's not room to park anything. There's a bunch of boxes all over the place. Not to mention my shed is waiting to collapse. I will post on that also, I have some ideas, but it involves a lot of cement and removing a lot of things from the corner of the yard. Hopefully I can get it done and put things I need in there.

My wife & I both park in the garage so I only have room for my basic tools that I need for working on or washing our trucks. Most of my tools are in my back yard work shop. Here are a few pics of the shed I call my shop.
