Hey I can go Sunday 4 sure. Just found out that we half to work Sat. We R Putting wine in a Box to ship over to Europe for the holiday. Overtime$$$
How about 9am or so and we can meet in Ukiah. From Ukiah we just head North on Hwy 101 then turn onto Hwy 20 and head East to Upper Lake.
How does this sound for everyone.
By the way its raining pretty good here in Hopland right now while Im at work.

well i can't make it to elk mountain, I feel you need a whole day for that, and I don't have time.
I could do the cow mountain thing if it were a half day from around noon. But that doesn't look good with the rain we're getting. we would have to play it by ear, and call on the day

We can meet at the Bowling alley right off the 101.
Also just called Cow Mtn and it is closed until we see dry weather for at least 3 days.

That's a good question. I was trying to find an aerial photo and draw an arrow pointing to the one spot I found up there long before i had a 4x4.

When i go up there I will make a note of what road it was on.

All i remember is if your heading towards the store on the north road and go left at the store, it's the first or second road on the left. Then I'm not sure if it forks again off that road or not but just off to the right side of the road there is a make shift mud pit. It probablly hasn't rained enough to make it really sloppy yet. The people that ran through it when i saw it must have been using 44" boggers or something. It looked nuts. Really deep and wide tire ruts.

I'm too much of a puss and would be afraid to get stuck in it but ya just don't go all the way out into the deep part. My idea of muddin' is stuff I could force myself through in 2WD, until I get used to exactlly what kind of stuff my 4x4 can handle, withought me having to walk 20 miles.

There should be some spots just east of the runway that should provide some mud as well.

Anyway there is definatlly mud there see link... (old pics)

I just got back home from Pillsbury. There was some mud east of the runway but that mud pit I was talking about was really a blast to play around in.

Today was the first time I ever used any 4x4 in the mud. I was way up the road where the snow level started. It was compacted snow, slush and parts that were like an ice rink. The differance between 2wd and 4wd blew me away. 2wd was like driving on ice. flipped it to 4wd and just went foreward like I was on dry dirt.

I need to find mud closer than Mendo though. It's a long drive to play around for 2 hours.
