I want to take that coment back, I just got off the phone with a rep from Volant, super nice guy. I am very impressed!! He also has an 05 tacoma with the same kit that I have & I am not going to give up the details, but lets say he is going to bend over backwards to get my issue resloved. I can't believe how good thier customer service is. Props to Volant!!!!

Yeah, I after talking with the tech support, I am pretty sure that the filter is my problem, I guess I will know for sure in 5 business days when my new one arrives.

I heard that throwing a CAI on our trucks is kinda pointless without getting an after market throttle body aswell...it won't suck in that much more air otherwise. Like if you take a 1/4 inch tube and hook it up to a big bowl...then do that again using a bigger bowl...it won't flow any faster...but thats just what I heard...I say F it and just buy a nice after marker drop in filter :)

You are prob right, I doubt there is much if any gain in performace, but drop in's don't add that super cool sound when you mash the gas :D

The URD TCAI looks good to me. The filter being in the front where the air pressure is greater seems like it would be a good setup. Anyone who has one care to put the .02 in?

I recently installed the URD intake about 2 months ago and noticed more throttle respone in the mid >2700 rpms... The truck definitely has more 'pull' in those ranges now. Let's not forget the incredible sound this thing creates!! I even prefer the sound when just accelerating somewhat heavy rather than stomping on it... I also installed the black filter or pre-wrap around the air filter for extra protection (bugs/rain) and to help hide it.

Maybe Gadget can add a few comments...

I just picked up the TRD unit and found all the warnings for it's use amusing. Despite all the warnings on the website, even the TRD box has a big sticker on it:

"This part is for race of off-highway use only and has no warranty. Installation of this part on a vehicle operated on public roads may violate federal, state, or local laws or regulations including, but not limited to, emission requirements and or motor vehicle safety standards. In California this part may legally be used only on a racing vehicle which will never be operated on public roads. If you install this part it may cause dogs and cats to live together in public, complete anarchy, and the end of earth as we know it."

I may have added that last sentence myself, but the rest is word for word and might as well have had it from the start. I just love all the legal disclaimers these days! :)

hey DoRight, you installed the MAF sensor from URD when you installed the TCAI? Do you think it would make a big difference if you didnt have it? Im looking at getting the TCAI, but don't want to pay $100+ more for the MAF if it isnt essential. Thanks

Well i had a K&N drop in before and noticed absolutely no difference in the truck whatsoever! Then i called Gadget and bought the afe stage 2 si cai and installed it! Wow big difference! more throttle responce more low end torque and more hp! i didnt dyno it but i will tell u that in the 4.0 liter engine u will feel the difference! the afe is almost the same as the trd but the box on the afe is designed a little different and actually flows more/better air! Gadget said it supposedly makes 5 more hp than the trd cai. plus its cheaper!! it also makes the exhaust note a lil deeper and makes the engine sound better when u stomp it! i highly recommend this cai!

Yeah I installed both the intake and the MAF Sensor at the same time... I think it makes a little difference once it adjusts to the way that you normally drive. It smooths out the rpms through all the gears. The TCAI by itself is generally quite until you roll into the throttle heavily or stomp on it... then thats when it really sounds mean!! I've been very happy with my install.
