I have a 98 regular cab with a 2.7 and 4:10 gears. I'm told that I need to pay $1900 for a new rear end because mine is so rare. What do you think?

is your mechanic telling you that???

Why would you care if your truck is rare? I wouldn't get the repair done just because your truck may be special.

But I probably would think about doing the repair if the rest of your truck is in good condition.

Edit: I misunderstood what you were saying. Go to another mechanic and get a quote for that.
