If insurance doesn't cover it like mine didn't. Use the website Kudzu.com to find windshield replacement in your area. I had checked a while back & got a quote of over $300 from a place my insurance company suggested. F That! I used Kudzu recently and got my windshield replaced for $165. And they came out to my house. Took 30 minutes.

And yes Toyota puts in whimpy windshields. A big bug cracked my windshield. There was a bug splatter on top of the crack. Then while driving in the rain, the windshield cracked all the way across.

The new windshield is nicer than the original one. Already had a rock hit it & no knick or chip in it.

 :eek:Those are crazy prices!! I got mine replaced a few months ago with Toyota glass for $220 total.
    Safelite wanted $240 total.
My insurance (geico) does free repairs which includes anything smaller than a dollar bill, they contract Safelite. Replacement is covered under comprehensive coverage and my deductable is $200, so I paid out of pocket instead of filing a claim, mine cracked all the way across.
I now have another chip which has caused the glass to start splitting apart internally, I'm waiting for it to break worse before I replace it again.

Did you try getting an online quote through Safelite? That is who Geico uses for the glass repairs.
    Try it for yourself...
    https://www.safelite.com/sslPages/service.jsp?CLICKED=QUOTE

But I guessed your zip code based on your location and did a quote to replace the front windshield and here it is for $220 plus tax and extra parts if needed....

    Web-Only Price: $219.95
    (includes labor, before tax)
Your vehicle may require the installation of moldings and accessories at an additional cost of $31.95. Learn More
This quote includes a National Warranty that is good for as long as you own or lease your vehicle. The quoted price is good for the schedule options listed below.

and for replacement if the crack/chip is smaller than a dollar bill is $80 plus tax.

My Taco is still in the dealer body shop for hail damage. OEM windshield was less than $250.

Wow ! I work at an autoglass shop , the aftermatket brand of windshield(seems stronger than stock, I have it on my taco.) with the new rubber sells for $140.00 out the door, with lifetime warranty against any types of leaks. If we got 1,100 out of every taco windshield I wouldn't be going to college LOL .

Yeah I just replaced mine with an after market windshield. After it cracked all the way across from hitting a big bug.

Much better than the factory one. I have had several rocks on the highway hit it. No cracks, scratches,or chips. I paid $165 installed & they came to my house.

    Stock. Purchased 2/17/19. Cement!
OK the crack did spread. Change in temp caused it to spread left and right like a mofo!

For what its worth, I got a direct replacement by the same manufacturer for $185 (CASH). The manufacturer for my year Tacoma is United LN.

I should hopefully get it installed at the end of the week. Installation includes new moulding.
