I'm a working musician and regularly carry about $10,000 of guitars/amps in the back seat of my Double Cab Tacoma. It is a major PITA loading and unloading all that gear in there. I'm strongly considering a rear cap.

I want one that really looks good with the truck (TRD Sport 4x4, Short Bed, Black Sand Pearl). I don't want one of those aluminum-shed looking atrocities. A local shop near me recommended a brand called "Jason" for about $1500 installed, but I wouldn't know one from another.

I need one that is completely watertight and secure. Tinted glass is a must. Any recommendations are appreciated. Pics are welcome too.

    Thanks,

    ~ Ryan

Leer seem pretty popular- Any fiberglass set up you get can get color matched. Tint you can have added aftermarket as dark as you'd like I would think.

    Good luck finding something.

I've always heard great things about A.R.E. They seem to have a lot of options too.

Based on your needs I'd lean towards a brand that uses a bulb seal vs. tape when mounting the shell. Most of the leers, snug tops, and centurys use the bulb seals or at least have them as an option. My 2 cents...

Snugtop was the shell that Toyota dealers offer. So it helped me make my decision.

Snugtop Cab Hi $1400 installed was a deal for me. Snugtops are top quality and the price shows. They are more common/available in the west I think ... ?

Some loading options: Windoors for side loading or go all out and get a beslide (still thinking 'bout one of those).

Lots more threads search canopy, topper, shell ...
