Or "get stuck and your vehicle is done". You could not recover that truck and trailer fast enough before the surf would've claimed it.

I don't know the culture out there....but.... that did look like a bad idea - although he did make it. Consider that lucky? He should've stayed closer to the shore to keep the water level lower.

I love how the park ranger even had his camera out for that one. Not illegal, that is the only way there is to get to the Dunes. I believe that was high tide. When we went, it was a hell of a lot lower than that.

Its just risky. At Pismo Beach the tide can go up and down quickly and dramatically. And pulling a toy hauler with a newer truck costing over $30,000 through high tide is crazy.

1. you go right to a fresh water car wash and rise the shit outta the underbody = no rust.

2. get stuck and not recover...owell, insurance will cover it.



I'd rather risk driving through it, than the tide coming in (which is what was happening) and being stuck over on some beach over night with no where to go.

 

Wow, i have to agree with the OP, who would risk taking a ford through any amount of water, let alone pulling a trailer!

 

I would check with my insurance co before assuming this would be covered. If you crash your car at a race track more then likely it isn't going to be covered; this is a long the same line.
