I asked Toyota and the replacement frames have been given the anti-corrosion coating.
I was curious if they added a coating after the work was done but I was informed it was already there.

The old frames didn't receive any rust proofing, that's why they rusted out. Something got mixed up and no rust proofing that was supposed to be applied got applied.

Seen some info on various forum pages that this mess was a three-way street.
The steel supplier didn't put enough nickle in the steel, Dana didn't rust-proof properly and Toyota didn't catch the mistake.

I guess when something has been made for years, it's easy to assume that everything is OK.
Some thought goes with anything being produced now, not just Toyota frames.

I'll be getting my truck back this week. Sure looks nice in the stall. My mechanic has been very fussy with the rebuild. He put a new clutch in (easy with the body out of the way), new shocks on all four, new springs, new frame, brake lines, brake proporting valve, hardware, etc.
Looks good. I'll have a new 2001 when done. (And it'll be paid for!)
Glad I got a frame rebuild. No searching for a new truck (and I don't really care for the new, bigger style.)

Here's a few pics to demonstrate how the process goes.
Shops that do a lot of these swaps usually assign 1 tech who can do the work in half of the allotted 60 labor hrs.

Those pictures back up what I have been trying to say since June of last year.....:D;)
You trusted Toyota when you purchased it many years ago and some doubt if they can fix it????;)

My truck took up 2 bays when it was "re-framed" and 1 Master tech took care of everything...

GREAT to see someone else having a GOOD experience PLUS putting on here...;)

Got my 2001 AC 4X4 back and in great condition. Rides like a new truck!
Took it in about 11 AM on Tuesday. Kept dropping in for picture progress. Stopped on Monday morning and it was all done.
Mechanic gets to be paid for 60 hours. He was very happy.

New frame, upper control arms, rear springs, brake lines, ebrake, hardware and free labor!

While in, I had the clutch and fuel filter replaced. Got the discounted parts and labor while in the shop.

While on the hoist, I was able to inspect the cab and box and basically rust-free. Took it directly to Ziebart and had them do their thing. It works great. This is the 5th vehicle I've Ziebarted.

Highly recommended for anybody considering getting it done.

Replaced frame will only add to the value from the survivor trucks.
There will be less of certain years.

I wonder what is the best time to take the truck into Toyo dealer for this work? Given now their massive recall program.. they must have more urgent priorities on their plates.. will they rush thru this work to make room for the more visible one?

    Yup, they did.
Have a basically rebuilt 2001 and no payments.
Didn't want to replace my '01 with a newer Taco.
I know how this one works and I have zero problems.

I keep reading about radio problems, engine speeding up when shifting (engineered to do that), some small rust, etc. on the newer Tacomas.
    I like the smaller cab.
Plus I have a steel box, not a plastic box that sometimes will crack.
    Bigger payload also.

Toyota has really treated me top notch.
My mechanic was top notch also.
I gave him free hand to replace anything needed as he went. Made it easier for him.
Very little extra was needed to be replaced.

I think they are doing a wait and see what will fix them.
Don't think they know for sure at the present, they just stopped selling new for a bit until they get the fix figured out.

I was the 1st frame replacement for my dealer.
They bought a bunch of the 1995-2000 Tacomas.

I know the mechanic who did mine will welcome another job. He made some nice money!
