I am going to buy an old truck for a beater off roader. Trail riding and mud, not much rock crawling around here. Mild wheeling, nothing crazy, I just want to get out of the house and explore/play a little.

The only problem is I'm broke. I have a chance to buy a 93 nissan 4x4 hardbody truck for $800. My plans are to slap a cheap/mild lift and some 33s on it and go.

Anybody have any experience with these trucks? Obviously they are no toyota, but even the older toyotas go for more than I have to spend.

I had a '90 Nissan, not 4x4, and I still see it running around town. I see a lot of the older Nissan's around. It ran great, even after my son ran into the back of someone :( I didn't know how to fix it, so I sold it and the guy fixed it up. Even after the accident, the truck still ran, even with the fan not working.

My first car was a '93 Nissan extended cab 2wd. That thing could not be beaten, even after 200k and towing a 5,000 lb trailer with a 4 banger. I can't speak for the 4x4 system, but mine was an absolute rock.

    Cool, thanks guys.

It had me worried because I wasn't able to find a good forum for the nissan hardbody trucks. I think its the first thing I've looked for that didn't have a decent forum. From trucks, motorcycles, guitars, guns, you name it.

My friend has an '86.5 hardbody 4x4 with 250,000+ miles on it. The motor was rebuilt at 246,000 due to a blown head gasket and overheating. That little truck is great and very reliable.

Never really understood the need for 8 spark plugs. Didn't seem to make a whole lot of power, but it was very capable.

Stick on hood scoop from Autozone.
My dad had a 1990 4x4 V6 Nissan Hardbody. It was pretty freaking sweet! Aside from some rust (it spent 13 years in New York) and a few repairs here and there, it still ran great!

Damn, sitting here thinking about that old Nissan, I miss that old truck. Good times. I drove her to Daytona twice, Talladega at least twice and Darlington once.

    Stock. Purchased 2/17/19. Cement!
My first truck was an 86 1/2 Hardbody. Loved it. Also not a 4x4 but was a tough truck. My other Nissan which was a 98' Frontier felt tired in 4 wheel drive and was lacking something. Sounds like a good time. Go for it!
