From a person who has driven Ford Rangers for the past 15+ years and beaten the ever loving hell out of them(all 4 were acquired around 85-90k miles and sold at 110-120k miles), my 07 Tacoma is going to have a lot of work cut out for it to impress the hell out of me and love it more than those old Rangers.

Other than the size of the 07 being bigger than the Rangers, I don't necessarily feel that the Tacoma is a tougher truck. Power? Yeah, loads more power. But it will remain to be seen if the Tacoma can take the beating I've given the Rangers over the years.

My only complaint with the Rangers came from them being gutless. First 2 trucks were 4 bangers, second 2 trucks were 3.0 V6s which are almost as gutless.

Repairs over the years for the Rangers? The 91 and 95s ate brakes pretty bad so rotors and pads, one of them needed a new clutch. Brake issues seemed to be sorted out on the 99 and the 03. However the clutch master cylinders needed replacing at 85-90k miles on both.

Of all the trucks out there for Toyota to compete with, Ford is the best of the American manufacturers.

My current Tacoma may need to go back for a leaking clutch master cylinder as well, it's got oil coming around one of the seals and slowly leaking onto the interior floor mat.

The same holds true to Tacoma people, or any other brand for that matter...

That's why arguing about who is better is just plain pointless.

I agree! If you live your life trying to be better, or one up those around you. You will be setting yourself up for disappointment. The only reason people make fun of other people is to cover up their insecurities or jealousy. The best thing you could come back with is nothing.

Sounds to me like He's over compensating for a lack in the crotchel region. Engine size doesn't in any way designate wether or not someone is a "pussy".

Perhaps you should tell your buddy to grow up and stop acting like a spoiled brat.

Tacoma is a model. Ford is a manufacturer. In other words, you should be comparing the Tundra to the F-150 if you want apples vs apples. (The Tundra is better than the F-150, but not that much better -- and the domestics have really come a long way in a short time, and it's about time.) In the end, as long as you both enjoy your own vehicles, that's all that matters.

That's funny...I don't have this problem. I'm the only one that owns a truck out of all my friends. They don't even drive SUVs. They're mostly about imports and luxury cars. I like luxury cars too but no $$$$$ for it. I just get the typical, "How do you park with that thing?" Yeah...city parking with trucks aren't the best.
