my annoying cigarette lighter outlet keeps pulling out.

simple issue, very annoying. not the accessory one, but the cig lighter. if i reach down to unplug whatever, the outlet comes out with it. i have to use a fingernail to hold it while i unplug. un-doable if driving. any ideas on tightening this thing? maybe pull it out, and rebend some tabs?

 

i have a similar issue. mine doesn't even work. i think there a tabs down in there you could probably alter, but definitely disconnect the batter first

 

I hear ya...mine does the same thing. I have my cell phone charger plugged in there and I just leave it there. Haven't bothered trying to do anything with it - as its a PITA to get to the backside/dash.

I'm definately all-ears if someone has fixed this.

 

mine too man, started using the power outlet, doesn't do that to my cell charger for some reason

 

ok, i fussed with it alittle bit. i pulled it out super slowly with the cigarette lighter. didnt even need my cell charger. mine is that loose. i noticed tabs inside. i rotated it gently about 10-15 degress counter clockwise...it got tighter!! let's see how long it last. i think the tabs grabbed fresh plastic.

 

Thats why I use the power outlet. I also think its really stupid to have a cigarette lighter and no ash tray... and I dont even smoke.

 

hunting trips, i charge flashlight and cell phone. i use both. no smoking for me. allergic to cancer. but it is annoying to yank out the cig lighter to plug in an accessory to have the entire thing come out.

and from what i can tell, smokers toss the junk out the window anyways.
