It is, but when in a corporate enviroment, there are other programs installed depending on what department the user is part of. Such as sales, marketing, support, etc.... Not every department uses the same programs. PC Wizard let's you specify the department and then runs the neccessary scripts to install certain programs.

oh, thats no problem at all, i have relatives there, the problem is that i need to deduct form taxes all the equipments, and i would have to pay import fees.... which sucks, because almost everything is made in China and the taxation is very high... some cases even 60%... so i have too options.... smuggle, or pay....

Looks great to me! Sony's are pretty good.
256MB of video should let you play "most" games! Even HDMI output to tv.
    Pretty cool!

But if you already had the PC setup for the correct user/department a clone should have worked... Unless you hadn't finished before it died.

Yes, but different images for every department would take up an enormous amount of space on the image server. Why would a company spend thousands on hard drive space n a server when they could just spend a couple hundred for a program like PC Wizard to run install scripts?

I meant clone as in clone the failing drive. Or was it too bad for that? I have to clone a few drives each day because the original ones are failing, the customer wants a bigger one, or I need to do a repair install of Windows and want a backup in case that crashes.

I understand not having room for images though. Sure would've made things simpler at my last company, but then they didn't want to pay for extra software so PC Wizard would've been out even if we knew about it at the time.

Yeah, the drive was so trashed, I tried connecting it to my desktop through a USB all-in-one adapter to get some files off of it and the desktop wouldn't even recognize it...:(
Some are so cheap, even if the software was around, they still would want you to do it hard way.

Hope you get the computer today dude. It's supposed to be next day shipping right. That means you can look at the MM thread today?

Anyways, WTfuck is lenova? I saw a commercial for them the other day. Is that what IBM turned into? It looks like the same laptops as what IBM used to sell.

I've heard alot of good things about Sony laptops, I think you made a wise choice.

Sweet. I love that next day shipping deal from Amazon! And the no tax is a big bonus. Our state adopted a line on our income tax forms where you declare all your internet buys ..... yeah right  .... I mean of course I do.....:D

Sounds like you'll have your laptop in time!

I think Lenovo bought the IBM computer business. I think they're pretty similar, but I have no guarantee of that.

I checked the tracking, it is now on the delivery truck.

Thanks. I've never had any complaints about XP. I know how to use it pretty well and I can configure it how I like it. We'll see about Vista.

ugh... I hate that. Then again, I don't have much luck with USB adapters. We have 3 bench systems with the side panel off and a 3.5 bay open to run SATA, IDE and power out so we can plug drives in directly. HDD diagnostic tools don't like to work with USB. If you haven't already, google "Hiren's". :D Nice little all-in-one HDD diag, repair, clone, partition, data recovery CD. We live by that disc at work!

Pretty much yeah. IBM sold the business end of their company, ie laptops, desktops, and everything that goes along with them to Lenovo. IBM still makes servers and superdupercomputers, etc.

When the switch happened, many of the IBM guys that were involved with making computers went to Lenovo to make sure that the ThinkPad reputation stayed how it was. Now Lenovo is changing around the entire ThinkPad lineup.
