well my insurance company just told me that it has to be gone 3 weeks for it to be a total loss, so im crossing my fingers, at this point i dont want it to be found. like i said, it only had 500 miles on it, and im sure some of you will agree, one of the big reasons why you buy a new truck is having the re-assurance that are the only one who has driven it. the truck was flawless, and i enjoyed that, and im sure if they do find it, even after repairs, it will have flaws. thats one of the things about a vehicle tracking system, unless i had custom work done to the truck, i wouldnt want it back because of the possible damage, the only reason why i would buy one of those systems, is to catch the SOB who stole it.

and by the way....AAA kicks tang.....they hooked me up with a rental car for the full 3 weeks and they are taking care of everything. and the GAP insurance that i purchased (which i have yet to make a payment on) is going to cover my $1000 deductable. so i should be back at the toyota dealer in about 3 weeks purchasing a black taco prerunner (with a loud ass security system and a vehicle tracking system).

i appreciate all the research and sympathy im getting from everyone, im sure most of you know how it feels to get something stolen from you, it kinda sucks.
    :(

Fingers crossed for a brand new Taco. I know exactly what you mean - this is my first brand new car ever and I'd be upset if I got it back after being stolen... it'd be used and filthy in my eyes

Bad News - if a thief really wanted to steal your vehicle he could (no matter what).

Good News - You have insurance. :frusty:

Really sorry about the truck. Read that you had Toyota of C'Bad plates. We live in Leucadia.

Hopefully like you said it is gone for good and the insurance co. takes care of you.

Had a 89 SR5 4x4 stolen from Del Mar a few years back. They did recover it stuck in a river bed up in inland Oceanside. Apparentley the morons didn't lock the manual hubs when they put it in 4wd and got it stuck.

It took 3 tow trucks to get it out. It was actually OK after that and I kept it a few more years.

Did they find out HOW they stole it? I guess, since it was an 89, that it didn't have a security system...

No security system. Actually made it pretty easy for them since I stashed my keys before surfing.
I think they were watching where I hid them.

    Lesson learned.

yea, i actaully live in o'side next to the 76 i had it parked in the gopher canyon, 15 freeway park and ride, so those of you that live in the area, stay clear of that little hell hole....i went back to look at the spot my truck was parked in, and there was some broken glass in the other parking spaces also, so im sure its happend before. i wish i would have seen that before i parked there.

everything is actually working out all right, i have a toyota highlander rental for the next 3 weeks, and its a good little car to drive around.

i was just dreamin today about chip foose calling me on the phone and tellin me my truck was overhauled, dont think itll happen, but i have to remain optimistic somehow. :)

surfponto, did they ever catch the dudes who stole it?

No they never caught the guys. Guys probably got it stuck, panicked and took off.

Guess it was in a pretty treacherous place, so they had to use the 3 tow trucks. The cop said if they had tried to tow it with one it would have rolled down the embankment.

Never saw how it was left but it sounds like it was stuck sideways on a steep river bank.
