Are steering controls worth it? Kenwood or Alpine

What do people think - I want my steering control but im getting the kenwood dnx 8120 head unit. Iv'e heard that there can be a delay in pushing the buttons with the following product which works for either alpine or kenwwod.

Any taco owners have experience with a kenwood...? Thanks

I had wheel controls on my highschool car- and never really used them that much. I had a remote control that I'd use more for my car after that- but I just use the radio dials and buttons now...

Have you had them before?? Did you like them?? That's really the key question to ask- if they make you happy....throw down the bones and get the extra equipment.

 

I really miss my steering wheel controls right now. I never had them before and just used the radio buttons, but with the new taco I had new buttons. I installed a Pioneer H/U a week ago and I am ready to wire in the adapter.

 

I like having it just because I hate buttons that do nothing. I have an Alpine.

• There is a slight delay, so instead of a quick push it's more of a definite push. Trying to make small volume changes is easier done directly with the deck
• My HU has access to the station preset buried in a menu, so the up/down control on the steering wheel handles that - very nice for me. Sucks that it can't do that AND do track skip on my iPod, only does one or the other depending on wiring.

I like it simply because of the added functionality from my second bullet point. Otherwise, it's easy enough to reach over.
