5100 w/884 @ zero vs 5100 w/stock @ 1.75

I own a 2006 DC Sport Prerunner. It has 4-leaf pack TSB. I am planning on installing the Bilstein 5100s this weekend. I have friend selling OME 884 lift coil springs.

My original plan is installing the 5100 @ 1.75" with stock springs to level the truck out.

or

Install 5100 @ zero w/ OME 884 coil springs.

Which setup will have a less stiff ride? I don't do any serious wheeling, just fireroads.

 

I have stock coils, And my 5100's set @ 1.75". Rides great.

 

Eibach coils Billy 5100's on all 4 corners
w/fronts set at 0, rides perfect, no shake rattles or rolls.
Just a tic nose high, but will soon be corrected by the rear leaf TSB which
should bring up the rear .5" or so.

 

Taco4x4NC , have you had the leaf spring TSB done , your pic make the truck almost seem nose high , could be the picture though ,

yea i'm certainly interested in this as well.... i have a set of 5100's that have been sitting here waiting to go on just trying to find the best riding setup before i install them.... my options were either 5100's set at 1.75" or set them at 0" with some eibach coils... just hoping to find a good answer on which has a nicer ride on the street...

 

If your truck is a 4x4 the Eibachs will only give you about an 1" of lift just an FYI.

 

I have mine set at 1.75" and it works well with the TSB, just slightly higher in the rear. But the weird thing is, and other people please chime in on this, the 5100's are SOFTER than the stock Bilsteins. I especially felt it yesterday when taking an off ramp that I always take coming home. With the old shocks, which were incredibly stiff, the rear end was planted. I took the same turn, same speed yesterday, and the whole rear end broke loose. Scared the snot outta me. Just a word of advice...

 

884's are not a softer spring, just 10mm shorter. Still a 590# spring. I would go with 884 and 5100's at zero.

I installed the 5100 @ 1.75" today. The stock Bilsteins on TRD Sport models are harder to compress than the Bilstein 5100. Also, the rebound on 5100 is slower too. I tested by compressing one of each, stock & 5100, front & rear, then letting the shock rebound.

I wanted to try the fronts with stock springs @ 1.75" on the 5100 first.

 

Hey Ikataco, just wondering how you like the ride with that setup? I keep flip-flopping on whether to do 884's or Billies at

I am running 5100@1.75" with stock linear springs. I am happy with the ride, firmer in front to match the rear TSB leaf pack. My friend actually had 885.

 

i have 5100 with OME 883 springs set at 0....rides smooth as stock
