company called hell bent steel, based out of utah. it's a 2.5in lift, but becasue of the geometry of the suspension, the spacer itsself is barely over an inch.

here's my reasoning, tell me which part you believe is false:

    1) by lowereing the whole strut by one inch, the shock still has the same amount of down travel, since you are not extending it with a preload spacer.
    2) if the suspension is extended becasue of a lift, and it compresses enough to hit the bumpstop, you can say that it is traveling further to get there than a stock setup. (i can confirm it is making it to the stop becasue of the visible pain scuffs where i have hit them.
    3) i know where you are coming from and the affects of bottoming out the shock itsself, but i believe you need a larger spacer to do that.

i'm not vouching for the quality of this style lift, it is obviosuly prefferable to have a good set of COs. i am simply saying that you get a little more travel.

Ok, We are trying to prove two different types of spacers. :p I've been talking about the ones that go above the spring this whole time. I am assuming that you are talking about the ones that go above the top hat. In that case I see what you mean. You have a valid point.

Maybe I waisted my money, I am so confused after reading all this. I wanted a lift to fit my larger tires, and didn't have much money to do it. In time I will beef it up. Seems to work pretty well though.

If all you wanted to do was fit larger tires, then you're ok. That's what these spacer and coilover kits are for!

My Question is how much are any of these lifts just for looks Vs actual off road performance (with the exception of race trucks)

Most of the trucks pictured in here spend more than 75% of there time on paved roads. Is the stability loss in cornering and off camber trails really worth the extra expense, including wear and tear gas millage etc....... really worth the extra 2"-3" of ground clearance over the stock 30.5" tires. I know I am really going to here about this post but I am looking for real world performance here. Opinions please no bashing from the folks who just dropped $2000-$3000 on suspension and huge tires for the parking curbs at walmart:)
