$600.00 for a dent??????

So I finally have my first dent due to a gravel truck on the frwy. This thing is about the size of a marble. Its in the middle of my hood. There are no scratches or paint chipping. So I am curious to see what a body shop would charge to get it out. $600.00 and thats not even painting the whole hood! Why he cant try and pound it out don't know. I asked him if he was smoking crack when he handed me the estimate? And all he sais is when can you bring it in? It will take me 2 days. WTF is this world coming to?

 

i think i'd be trying the dry ice method out first....or just dealing wiuth the dent before i shell out $600 for it.

 

I bought an OEM Sport hood and all the components and had it painted for that money...

Gees I gotta find out who sells dry ice around here-I wanna actually try it and post here-If it really works then it would be a blessing for us caus we have such thin sheetmetal!

 

Most grocery stores around here sell it... Park it in the sun and get it nice and hot first... Post some before and after pics.

 

+1 for the Paintless Dent Repair. Had a softball sized dent on my front right quarter and got it fixed for about $150.

 

Several people here and at TN have tried the dry ice and were well pleased with the results. Give it a try.

 

sum stoopid golf ball sized nut husk fell out of a tree in my back yard, leaving one of those small like quarter sized dings in my hood, the kinda that have a fairly deep sharp center...i wonder if the dry ice method would work on those??...it drives me nuts that it's there...i often wondered if there was a way to fix those stupid little dings....

 

I'm thinking it would really strain that paint seal somehow. I decided against trying it on my truck-besides-I have one teeny little dent at the lower cab behind the rear door so I dont care about it-maybe one of you guys can give it a whirl You guys think flexing that paint surface with extreme cold can be safe? The thought makes me nervous.

 

if there is no paint chip, u can get one of those paintless dent removal guys to do it for 125. you'll never know the dent was there.

 

My enormous door ding (due to very strong winds opening someone's door) cost $100 and took them less than an hour. It was paintless dent repair and looks perfect. It's amazing what those guys can do. That's when my truck was 3 weeks old.
