    I have a 09 DC TRD OR Prerunner. If I wanted to go off roading what would I not be able to do since it's a prerunner? :eek:

    I would like to take it off road once I get my lift and tires but just wondering what the limitations are? :cool:


    Do any of you go off roading with a prerunner?

    Prerunners are very off road capable if you got the right tires etc...

    now keep in mind both trucks have ALOT of money invested into them. i'm just showing that 2WD trucks are still very capable of having fun in the dirt. in reality many race trucks are 2WD. Prerunner's by definition were 2WD trucks that guys would use to "pre run" race courses. with the truck being 2WD you have less stuff to worry about breaking and your front susp can get more travel not having to worry about front axles.

    You might be suprised what you can do. The locker will really help you do more than you might think. That said you need to be really cautious with what you do, and never wheel alone. Always have a 4x4 with you (at minimum another vehicle you can walk to should you get stuck and need to leave). Always have straps and basic gear (water, good aired up spare, a few protein bars or something, and enough clothing to stay adequately warm at night assuming the truck will not run). Also having good tires make a world of difference (the stock rugged fails suck).

    That said, crossing a very small water crossing (more or less wet rocks) I actually got sorta stuck. However, I did not air down (helps a ton, I run about 17psi when tool'n around in the desert), nor did I have any weight in the back over the axel. There is a chance I could have got out airing down and putting weight in the back, but it was a lot easier to just hook up to the 4x4 in front of me...

    Play it smart and start with extremely easy stuff first... Have fun! (also make sure you know how to properly engague and disengauge the locker... never above 3 MPH!!!)
