New Tacoma 4.0 4x4 Db-Cab Oil Change

What do you guys think I should do. I have to make a 900 mile trip in my new Tacoma at the end of April and will only have about 1000 miles on it by that time. I will be pulling a Jetski/trailer (1200lbs) total. Should I go ahead and change oil before I take off or wait. I have read numerious oil trends, but just want to make sure. It will be a non-stop trip other than gas/food through the hills of WV/KY. Thank for all the great inputs on this site

 

If you have any question then change it. Otherwise all you will be able to think about during your trip is the oil and your motor.

 

Anyone else have any inputs on this. Just want my 2010 to hold up just like the 03 is doing

 

I always change my oil (even recently changed) before a long trip. Best $10 piece of mind

 

5000 miles change it before then your just wasting money

 

Talking to my mechanic he recommended against a post break-in oil-change on brand new cars. Kinda surprised me with that one. Wouldn't hurt anything but you're spending money unneccessarily.

Now, do take oil with you and check your levels frequently. As I was reading through the manual last night it sounds like it can consume fair amounts of oil at freeway speeds and towing and with a newish engine.

 

I did mine at 1000 miles and then every 3000 there after until I switched to Syn then I've been doing 4000 mile intervals

So, what do you guys think about pulling this Jetski 900+ miles with a truck that has only 1000 or so miles on it. Will it hurt the engine or I should say, provide a not so good breakin.

 

I think your a little paranoid - the truck will be fine.
