lol I have heard the " I'll get bored with it" or "I'll out grow it" thing alot and depending on what type of person you are you might. I had a 250 ninja that I used for a commuter bike and a zx6r ninja that dynod 152hp. I had both of these at the same time and I rode the 250 alot more than the 600 because it was lighter, easier on gas and I didnt have to refrain myself all the time, I could ride the bike as hard as I wanted without getting in trouble

If your going to be doing much highway riding at all you will want something bigger then a 250, the poor little thing will be strung out going up hills and stuff. There great bikes to learn on and for just putting around town will do fine. Honda makes a really good 400 DS, me personally I would buy a KTM. The parts they come with stock far exceed that of any Jap bike, thats why they cost a bit more. I really like the 300 EXC, although it isn't a duel sport, I'm sure you could make it road legal though.

I agree maintenance on a KTM is more involved then on a jap bike, but really you might change the oil once maybe twice a year. Once you get it figured out its not that bad. Or take it into the shop and pay them 50 bucks to do it. That bike you posted would be a great bike, I would think you can get it road legal with a baja kit, make sure it has electric start though. Thumper talk is an awesome site, its like tacoma world but for dirt bikes!

Okay so I'm seriously considering getting that wr426. They are asking 2400 and maybe I can talk them down a bit. You think it would be a good buy/bike?

I'm getting a KLR 650 this spring. My buddy bought an 09 this last summer and I put about 100miles on it. I am not an experienced dirt rider but I have put almost 15000 miles on my VTX 1300 in the past 2 1/2 years. Anyways, it is a big bike, good power, good on the highway, and good on the dirt. If your not throwing this thing around the deer trails to much, the KLR does about everything well enough to get you through any kind of terrain. Check out Dr. Gregory Fraizer's book & blogs of his around the WORLD trips on an "airhead" BMW, Royal Ensfield, and his KLR. Here is a recent link to one of his articles. http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/284/5523/Motorcycle-Article/Dr--Frazier-Rides-Malaysia.aspx

I got a Suzuki DR650, bike is fun as hell! Not particularly great at anything but does everything pretty good. I've got mine modded to the gills for trail riding and it's still got nothing on my YZ250 in the dirt but it will still go anywhere... just a bit more work.
