Blew a speaker...help pick the replacement

Interesting that I had Kenwood KFC's in my door for 8 months with no problems. I finally sealed up the door with Raammat BXT2 and Ensolite, turn up the volume and...POW...blow the damn speaker. I suppose the increased back pressure was just too much.

I have a stock head unit with no plans to change. I am not using the tweeters and have no plans to start. The door is already deadened and I am not removing it to change wires around. I need a plug and play. Also can't change the size because I have Marv's baffles already mounted.

What is the advantage of pre-wired crossovers?

Any recommendations for speakers?

I like the Infinitys my self i am getting the same ones for my truck. They seem like a good deal.

 

I'm concerned that the Infinity's will require more power than my stock HU is putting out. Or at least I won't see the true value in these because they won't be getting the power they deserve.

You wont get the true value unless you run an amp but that goes for almost all speakers. The sound quality will be their even if you arent at high wattage. I put kicker speakers in my 08 and they were 100 watt speakers and they still sounded great with the stock head unit. If i were to do it again i would buy the infintys. That is just my opinion.

 

They look like good speakers to. I like infinitys quailty. They seem to be up their with the best but they are still a resonable price.

 

Ur gonna want to loolk at a speaker with more sensitivity, I will take less power to get loud... I have a set of used kappa 5*7s if interested pm me and we can work out a price, were in the back doors of my bros f150 for about a year

 

Why are you looking at 5x7 speakers? Why not put a 6x9 in there like the stock one if you're going to use an oval speaker?

Called Crutchfield to order the IR's and the rep talked me into a pair of Pioneer TS-A6882R. Said the mid-range bass would be better. I went with them on Amazon for $55 shipped. Expected to spend $100 on these so I'm "in the black".

I had left over Kenwood 6x8's that I wanted to use last year. I bought Mr Marv's baffles for that size speaker. It blew last week and I am replacing it without replacing the baffles.
