bed mat recyclin

Ok, so the name gives it away. i used to own a ford truck or two or three. whatever, please dont rag on me. im driving and lovin the heck out of a Toyota now. ive had it less than a week. the things awesome.

Anyway to my question or idea. as you can see from the pic, i have a rubber mat from my F-150 an its just alittle big and says F-150 on it. is it sacrilegious to have it in a Tacoma? and for the life of me i cant figure out a good way to cut the damn thing. my only idea was to use a die-grinder and a cut off wheel. F.Y.I.- not a good idea unless you want molten rubber slung at you, and it doesn't cut well at all.

Don't know about the sacrilege part maybe turn it over,, as far as cutting it we always use a circular saw to cut the mud flaps on our dump trucks, just be careful don't push too fast

 

just mark with grease pencil and cut with a sharp utility knife. it helps to score it first then bend the mat back along the score and keep sliding the blade along.

 

thanks all, ill try the knife first. then maybe the saw. if your interested ill keep ya posted what works better. its pretty thick and very dense.

i think im going to make a cardboard temp-let to fit exactly then trace it on the mat to give it that custom look.

 

I would say either sell it to try to buy one made for the Tacoma OR cut a little off, put it back in the bed, cut some more off if you need and keep SLOWLY cutting till it fits. It would take awhile but if you can't sell it, its worth a shot.

Ok, now in my defense its worth noting that for some reason I decided to start this project at about 11:45pm after workin 12 hours and having to be up the next morning at 7:00am.
If you notice i traced the pattern wrong. For some reason i cut the corners behind the wheel-well to short.

left it short in the back so i could use the d-rings still. All in all I wish I would of thought about it more and not done it in the middle of the night, but at least the dogs arnt sliding around there anymore.
