2010 TRD CAI for 4.0

Just finished installing the 2010 TRD CAI. It is not as loud as I thought it would be, but I can feel the pedal response for sure. Does anyone know if it gets the same 15 HP and 25 FT-LBS of torque as the previous TRD CAI model?

 

there is no way an intake will give you 15HP. lol

 

When I was shopping for a CAI, I read this under the product listing [All testing done to stringent Toyota standards. whoa, let me see pics of the whole thing. I have the discontinued trd intake and it looks nothing like that one.

 

Under ideal circumstances with a tune and probably other parts (headers, exhaust, MAF cal, etc) then maybe. Even then, these are not numbers at the tires...

At best, you'll get < 5hp / 5#ft from an intake...more likely, you'll get nothing at all but a nice sound and slightly faster throttle response.

 

Seems 2010 TRD CIA is different

 

where did you get yours? how much did you pay if you dont mind me asking?

 

Im just not sold on the TRD intake, it still sucks air through the fender like the stock set up.. I'll just stick with my URD.

 

I like it, but i need it to not gather wather/mud and also that new CARB sticker is so enticing. did u cut a hole in ur firewall to put that in?

 

Although the TRD intake is a nice intake. No intake will give you anymore then 2-3hp (unless you have F/I) on 2nd gen Tacomas. It sounds nice and has better throttle response and maybe 2-3 hp gain.

 

Yes, you have to cut the radiator support in order to install the URD TCAI.

 

Never had any problems with water.. but then again i dont wheel in it

That is a fact. The whole cold air intake thing is a joke. You are still sucking air from the same spot. The stock air box is pulling air that is only 1-3 degrees above the outside air. How much better do you expect to get?


The only things a CAI will do is lighten your pocket.

I have heard the new 2010 TRD CAI is having issues with maintaining a balanced air fuel ratio as per Gadget on XR Underground after he ran dynos of Stock vs AFE Si2 (OG TRD Intake) and the New TRD intake.

After reading the thread, I got an old TRD and I live in CA... the new Carb was so enticing, but not at the expense of leaning out my engine.

 

i'm pretty sure it's not frame damage and they send a template. it is an easy cut lol

 

Yeah umm the frame is under the truck, not in the engine compartment. It's interesting how people want to go around modding their engine components but yet they don't even have the slightest clue what any of this stuff is

 

The radiator support is in no way related to the frame. It can be unbolted and removed.

 

...um...try again...

 

I like it, other than the cutting and the 25% blockage of your radiator.
