45-65 mph shake / shimmy

ok just got my new tires 285/75/16 m/t had a shake between 45-65mph brought it back to the tire shop had them re balance the tires but shake is still there....
i have 5100's at 2.5 --l.r. uca's & 2" aal..
my alingment is not perfect but it drives straight....on going alingment issues here with the lr uca's " no one knows or is willing to adjust them"
but does this shaking sound like an balance issue or and alingment issue...
i can feel it in the wheel and the gas pedal

 

Check your air pressure, you have changed quite a bit from stock and Air pressure needs to change too. Also, those retards at tire shops always put in way to much air. Also check the torque on your lug nuts.

 

Are your wheels hub centric or lug centric? Lug centric wheels can cause vibes if not properly seated.

 

do all tires take the same air pressure??? if so what 30-35psi
and all is seated properly....

 

Well for instance my 1st gen has a sticker on the door jam that says 26psi front and 29psi rear. I have 31 10.50 15 inch tires and I put 28 psi all of the way around.

Actually I had the same problem with shaking in the cab, I kept taking my truck back to the tire shop for a re balance. They ended up replacing my wheels and changing the offset back to stock (on a 1st gen its 7). The problem got better but not right. So Then I started playing with my psi. They had it at 34psi and that was not even close to oem. So I set my psi to oem and it was a little better so I set all four tires at 28psi and it was perfect.

So all in all I think it was a combination of them selling me the wrong offset wheel and putting way to much air in the tires. Tacomas and Ford Rangers for some reason are really sensitive to offset.

 

look at your door jam it will say the tire pressure, use a digital gage and check them in the morning while still cold.

 

Depends on alot of variables^^^ Lt tires can go up to 65psi! Depends on what type of tires you have and how much weight your gvw is or how much your haulin.

 

Search for the chalk line test, it'll explain how to find the correct tire pressure.

Some tires especially M/T tires are just impossible to balance. With the big lugs, and hard spots in the tires. I dunno what kind of equipment they have or if they did, but sometimes with heavy tires if the heavy spots arnt so spread out rotating the tire on the wheel correctly will fix the problem. If it cannot be done this way, your going to have a shake until your tread gets low and most of the heavy spots are gone. I got km2's and they do the exact same thing, Ive even gone as afar as putting a sand called "equal" in them, which static balances the tire as it rolls, which works really good on most smaller tires. So basicly, make sure they atleast tryed to "optamize" the wheel to the tire before they balanced it.

 

they are 285/75/16 definity dakotas "made by cooper tire co."
so you guys are saying it is more of a balancing problem then an alingment one???
i headed out on a road trip for like 4000 miles on thursday and want this resolved....

 

Yea your alignment has nothing to do with this at all.

 

Alignment problems normally cause the vehicle to pull left or right, not shake. Shaking could also be caused by problems in the steering rack. I had that with my last Taco.

 

Road force balance... NOW!

Be sure dude, I had the same problem.. watched over the shoulder.. everything came up "0.00" and it still shook! Did it over again with Road Force balance.. it was all out of whack.. rebalanced, haven't had the shake since.

I had another Front shake because the front was lifted too high.. doubt that is your problem though.
