I got my lift and wheels on now and got my alignment done just recently. I've been reading up on here a lot about alignments and I'm not sure if my alignment specs are correct. Can some of you guys chime in and help me out on this?

I've read it's suppose to be...

    Camber 0*
    Toe 0*
    Caster 2.4*

The manager at Firestone said they couldn't get to those specs. What can I do to get this correct? I have light race UCA's, are they suppose to adjust the UCA's?

I have 2.5 lift up front and tire size is 285/70/17.

    here are the specs...

When you installed the UCA's, did you set the ball joint to the 2* + setting?

I set my caster to 2.5...Camber to .4 and toe to whatever Factory specs are...trucks drive like a champ.

x2...i made the mistake of installing the ball joints backwards and my alignment was all sorts of messed up. Make sure the SPC Logo is facing you when your looking at it installed. You'll want the rounded edge of the ball joint plate facing the truck w/ SPC facing you (or the tire)

The truck does drives perfectly straight. It just feels like when I hit some bumps and crown on the road the steering feels little loose.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. It's going to steer way better with the caster where it's at, ant you won't get any rubbing on the body mounts either.

So I can leave it were the specs are at?

would my tires still wear out evenly? that's what I really worry about.

I just thought the alignment specs HAD to be set at...
    Camber 0*
    Toe 0*
    Caster 2.4*-2.8+

Like I said before, the truck does drives perfectly straight. It just kinda feels wiggly on the crown on the highways and bumps, Not real bad, but it does kinda bother me. Can the caster help that?

The Camber and Toe are pretty important. If those aren't right, the tires will wear out really quick. The caster doesn't matter as much.

ok, back again... I've notice the SPC is facing towards the rear of the truck on both the drivers side and passenger side.

    How do I adjust this?

Do I just loosen the bolt on top?

Is it bad if the SPC is not facing the tire?

so it that why I couldn't get my alignment right to specs because the ball joints are not placed properly?

Yes that is why your specs aren't "right on", but it will steer a hell of a lot better the way you have is set now.

If you have a big enough socket, you can just loosen up the bolt on top and reposition the joint while the UCA is on the truck.

Also, you'll have less rubbing the way it is set now.

hey Drew, my ride right now feels ok, but I think it could be better. It has some slight bump seer that starting to bother me that's why I'm thinking of moving the ball joint.

If I face the SPC at me it well set it a 2*+ correct?

I want to see if I move the ball joint face me if that would help out on the bump steer and get it all things to specs....I thought have the UCA's installed would help out with all that. It drives straight, I just want the bump steer gone and I do rub the body mount right now too but only in reverse with wheel turn all the way.

If it rubs now, it will rub WAY worse, once you move the joint further back. You'll just have to decide which you want to live with: Bump Steer or Rubbing.

Making the SPI face out towards you and positioning the joint as far out on the A arm as possible should give you factory caster.
