Do i need new uca's???need help

I searched and all i could find is a thread on pre-runners and was wondering if the 4WD were the same. i have blistein 5100's on order and was wondering if i also put a 1.5" aal in the rear with the front set at 2.5 will i need new uca's

 

I think most here will say yes, you'll need the UCAs...others will say no but prolly wont be able to produce an alignment sheet withing specs. That's the way most of these threads go anyways....I personally don't know but I've read a ton of these type of threads.

 

a good alignment guy can get it "within" specs...but it won't be optimal.

There you go thinking again....always a smartass in the group.

Keep in mind this is a 3in ProComp Lift and everything is in spec aside from my caster being off by 1/10th. Cross caster is fine.

Edit:...Granted, the numbers are not pretty (the reason i am running LR UCA's), but they are in spec, this is from a toyota dealership.

OP is asking about a 2.5 in lift so im sure his numbers wouldn't look near as bad, And i believe the tech could have gotten mine better but he was working on it longer than he wanted to be and was tired of messing with it (notice the time...right at quitting time).

 

TC UCA helped more than i could believe. Worth every penny!!!!

Your caster is off...exactly. So yours is not within the specs. Aftermarket UCAs will help you get the caster within spec. Sounds like UCAs are needed to get within all the specs.

 

I have more lift than OP. And considering mine was only off by 1/10th, with a good tech his should be all within spec. The only way to find out is if he took it and tried to get it aligned to see if it is close enough for him. Personally the 1.2 camber is what killed me...not the caster. Camber really needs to be at 0 or -/+ .01.

I run LR UCA's and my caster setting on the UCA's is set at 0.

 

alright well how about if i went with a toytec aal 1.5" and set the front at 1.75????

 

I read somewhere that below 2" in the front you do not need aftermarket UCAs. I can't remember where I saw that though.

 

Yea I read some where that only above 3' you need UCA. It is starting to seem its one thing or its another.

Well i have 3in, and you see the specs....its not pretty. 2in lift and stock uca's should be good, 2.5...get a good alignment tech and check the specs...if you have the cash to spend i'd go ahead and get them to make life easier, but you could limp along on stocks to save up some cash, 3in...go ahead and get the UCA's, because if it is within specs...its really not gonna be close.

 

Im installing my 5100's this weekend also, if my 2" Toytec AAL's get here by Friday. I don't have the tsb springs, and I'm going to set the fronts to 1.75. From what Iv'e read we don't need UCA's

 

So for Stephen he should be fine. Cause what he was going to do is what I was going to do this month. So I was wondering the same thing.

 

I have read extensively and it seems like the consensus is that they are not required with a small lift, but they do make the truck ride alot better. They help keep the "factory Feel" drive. LR UCA's are a good less expensive brand that get good review. TC UCA’s, which are better from what I have researched, just cost much more. Hope this helps.
