All you guys in Canada, SAVE YOUR $. After trying to find a good price on a used one, and getting very frustrated I found a local guy who imports Toyota's by the semi load. Just picked up mine yesterday for $29,600 CDN.
2008 double cab 4x4, TRD Off Road, JBL 6 disc changer.

I looked at importing one but I couldn't do it for the same price, and he looks after all the paper work. All I did is tell him what I wanted and 6 days later I went and picked it up. All RIV was done, provincial safety done.

I think he must get incentives from buying in volume.

    Cheers

Believe me Tom007, I tried. My problem was I wanted an 09, and there are none used floating around since they were just released a few months ago. I could of purchased imported '08's with low mileage, but would only of saved a few G's max. I would prefer to have side curtain airbags if I'm going to keep the truck a while.

Since I plan on keeping the truck for at least 8 years +++, I bit the bullet and bought new.

Ya, the 08 I bought was new as well. When I picked it up he had a 09 there with the same options and it was $33000 He said there was no incentives on the 09

No I don't think it includes GST. It was a TRD OFF ROAD double cab 4x4

I got mine for 30,000US (MSRP was 32,099). A NEW 09 4D LB TRD sport with JBL and tow package. It came to 32,200 with the CND exchange. In Vancouver area Toyota dealers wont budge on the price so it would have been 37,500 for the same truck but no JBL or tire pressure monitoring system. Price difference 37,500-32,200=5,300 then add GST and PST to that 5,300*1.12=5,936. It took a few days of waiting and a couple hour of my time but for almost 6 grand it was well worth it.

But then you would of paid GST and PST on the $32200.00. Which comes to $36,386.00. I paid $39,000 OTD. So that WOULD a been a savings of $2614 plus the bonus of JBL/Bluetooth.(for me)

Very worth it in my opinion.

It just didn't work out for me as the CDN dollar dropped the exact same time I was about to buy, leaving hardly any savings at all.

Glad to see you saved some coin Canadiankid! Wish I had the JBL and Bluetooth!

Hey there aww1970. What are the chances you're blue? I was driving on 17ave sw next to the first 09 I've seen (noticed the led taillights). I've got a TacomaWorld sticker and a TN sticker on my rear window.

I crossed the border with my import the day the dollar peaked early last November. Couldn't have afforded a Taco otherwise since the difference was 12K.

    Cheers!

Where real people live.... whose President is the biggest freaking idiot on earth who couldn't do sh!t when Georgia was invaded. Real people who dont have universal health care and pay twice as much for medication. The trucks you buy in Canada is build to a different specification hence the cost. Some of the US bought trucks are not designed for Canadian winters. Canadian consumers pay more for products because they earn more and have higher disposable income than their American counter part.

    Ouch!

Back when importing was at it's highest (last fall/winter) there was a lot of discussion about the differences. Nobody ever did come up with anything substantial. Part numbers on things like the immobilizer and block heater were found to be identical. Everything else seemed to be fluff like a heavy duty battery, cold temp. lubricants, antifreeze etc. Maybe others can provide some hard proof of these differences.

I don't think we earn any more after all the taxes, but we sure pay more because we have been conditioned to sit back and take it every which way without raising a ruffle.

39 OTD is a good deal. The local dealers hear wouldn't budge so my total with PST and GST would have been around 42,000. What did you pay before taxes?

I forgot that you poor saps in BC have to pay PST. Don't you still have to pay the PST when you registered your import?

With you guys posting what you paid for your CDN Tacomas it looks like alot of the canadian Dealers will not budge. I worked my dealer for a couple of weeks and managed to get a good discount in the end.

Learn how to take a joke. Enjoy your socialist heaven and lighten up. Maybe use some of your "disposable income" on a sense of humor.

Our president, the one who stands up to terrorism and totalitarianism the world over? That president? The one who people like you criticized for saving Iraqi's from a dictator, now you want us to save another country unilaterally? That president? Hypocrite much, are you?

BTW, socialized medicine is a failure everywhere. I can see a doctor tomorrow if I want to. How about you? I pay $4 for a HBP prescription. How about you? The free market will always defeat your Marxist ideals, each and every time.

I happen to like Canadians, many come down to Myrtle Beach over the winter, but don't act as though you're some model for the world. You gave us hockey and maple syrup and I thank you for that but stick with what you know.

As far as I can see all you guy's got a better deal than me 'cause I'm paying $42,000 not including the interest. That's ok though only 4.5 yeas to go. Can't wait till 2013.
