Grease

In all my years I have never really given much thought as to what grease to use in my vehicles, but with the new Tacoma I am going to try and do it "right" so, I am off to the Auto supply store and am wondering just what type of grease people are using, I know what the book says, and although I am not a big on "moly" additives. maybe I should be using it. I am thinking any good lithium based grease should cover it, any thoughts? Thanks Doc

I use green grease! does it really matter much?

 

I use tractor grease to grease the u-joints and slip joints just because it seems to stay a little longer. I dont think it really matters as long as everything stays lubed.

 

I use this on the drive train.

 

There is a big difference in greases. Most grease that is available at your local parts store is really poor quality. It is not tacky, has low Timken load ratings, washes out easy in water, has a low melting point (not good in hot weather) I use quality grease. Especially in my wheeling rig where I encounter a lot of shock load, and deep water. I also prefer my bearings to last as long as possible. Good grease from companys like, Schaeffer Oil, TRC, Amsoil, and others if far superior. Right now I use TRC Paragon 3000.
