Hey Squad314, when I was at my dealer for the 36K service, I discussed the rear spring TSB. They looked it up and said that no such thing exists. I created some fuss and the adviser checked with a few of his coworkers and they all looked surprised. (BTW, they don’t see much Taco’s at this dealership) They suggested I call Toyota and the pompous ass at Toyota played hard ball with me. He said that there is no such thing in Canada and insisted that our trucks are built to different specifications than the US trucks. I guess that’s why we paid $10K more than that fluffy Southern Fried Chicken. Then I checked my rig and found that it has 4 springs/leaves. I’m confused a little bit but don’t have sufficient brain time to decipher this bull at this time. How about you squad man? What's your story.

When I first became a member of this site and started reading about the suspension TSB,it was explained to me that the US trucks were factory under sprung with only three leaves....I was also told that for some reason, the Canadian trucks came with the correct or post-TSB spring pack so the TSB was not required....Sure enough,I crawled under my truck and there they were...4 leaves.

Canada at one time did have a TSB for trucks not equipped with the 4 spring pack, but in this case the dealer and Toyota is correct; they run your truck's VIN and it shows no TSB needed. There is no bull to decipher; your truck will not show up as eligible the TSB since it does not need it. Has nothing to do with the US $ VS the Canadian $, nor how much Toyota Canada wants to charge for the vehicles they sell.

Dude, EVERYTHING has to do with money. Trust me, this has something to do with money. Toyota is in the business of making money.

Starting with the '08 model year Canadian trucks have the 4 leaf pack. There is still a Canadian TSB for '05 - '07 Tacomas.
Kwelklin; Make sure you use the wording in the TSB when you make your complaint to your Tpyota dealer, 'Harsh ride while carrying heavy cargo'. At least this way you have a record of the exact problem while your truck is under warranty. When Toyota starts including the '08 in the TSB you can go back and get the TSB done.
Call the 800 number though. Even if they don't agree to fix your truck calling is what gets other model years added to the TSB.

Toyota Japan does not care how much variance there is between the US and Canadian dollar, as long as they get paid. Also the 10K difference The Master is speaking of has nothing to do with the spring pack. Yes, Toyota is in business to make money, but how much over actual cost the Canadian distributor decides to sell the product to the Canadian dealer body for is the Canadian distributor's business. General complaints about high prices, and some customers buying south of the border has had an affect, as Toyota CA has shuffled some prices recently.

That may be, but the decision to add 4 packs was based on money. Businesses base decisions solely on money, sometimes the decisions may not seem directly related to money. But keeping the customer happy, lower warranty cost things like that effect the bottom line, and the bottom like is what it's all about. Everything comes down to $, while Toyota Japan may not worry about it, the guys running the canadian operations and north american operations sure as F**k care about it. Their job performance is based on the bottom line. And evidently they thought that 4 leaf packs will have a better long term effect on their bottom line.

I had read some posts last year or so of people who had '07's with 4 leaf pack; either factory or via TSB. Someone had posted that some Canadian dealers were installing as they came into inventory; before 1st retail sale.

I've got a 2010 DC OR 4x4 -- less than 900 miles -- read about TSB on this forum -- downloaded the PDF and called my dealer -- parts were immediately ordered and work finished yesterday -- truck drives/rides GREAT!

Even better -- the cost for new springs was $1700 and Toyota ate it!
