    Hello ladies and bruces....
I want to install an exhaust system on my '05, but I'm not ready too throw down the big bucks yet. I was thinking about putting a cherry bomb glass pack on the truck first, see how I like that for a much cheaper price.
I am more looking for a bit louder / meaner sound than tons of performance.
What do you think? Go for a glass pack? Other cheap suggestions to start?

    Cheers

It will sound terrible. If you just want performance, go with a dynomax super turbo. They're pretty cheap too.

most people on here will say that they are better for v8s and that it'll rice out a v6... they do sound mean on v8s, but per the request of a friend of mine, i put a 16 in cherrybomb glassback on his 2002 toyota mr2 (I4). i have to say i was surprised how good it sounded. it was only above 6500 rpm that it sounded like a fart cannon. so 99% of his driving, it sounded great. exhaust sound is a personal prefference, so we can only offer our opinions on this. with that said, if you think you'll like it, i say do go for it. if it doesn't work out, you're only about $40 in the hole...but you can always sell it.

i (and many others on here) are running flowmaster 40 series. i got mine 3 years ago, brand new for $45. they have gone up in price since then ($65 online), but i love the way it sounds (again, a personal opinion).

    hope this helps :)

Glass pack is a style of exhaust made by Cherry Bomb. It is more open, so it has a deeper rumble, because it's more open and just straight pipe.

I am more looking for audio, then performance. If I was gonna do performance I would do full engine mods too. I will look into that system though

thanks fellas, any other thoughts or suggestions

To the OP. You will not get TONS of performance from any muffler.

FWIW, I bought a Dynomax Ultra Flow muffler from streetsideauto.com for $58, minus $5 (coupon code: FUELIE) with free shipping. Then I submitted a $25 rebate so the total cost was $28 for the muffler. A local shop installed it for just under $70 so the whole thing cost me about $100. The Ultra Flow is nowhere near as loud as a glass pack, but I like it. Nice deep rumble. Not as deep as a V8 but definitely not ricey. And I have notice a little more throttle response too.
